Imagine waking to the sound of birds and wallabies outside your cabin, then taking a walk through pristine rainforest. Picture kayaking on a noble and serene river system or taking a cruise to the rugged Tarkine coast at Pieman heads. Maybe you can land a sea running ocean trout in the Pieman, Savage, Donaldson or Whyte rivers .BBQ it over a crackling log fire and sip some of Tasmanians finest wines or let us cook for you in Tannin , our Tasmanian produce inspired restaurant. The Corinna Wilderness Experience is food for the soul. Corinna is an oasis in the Tarkine, where a small settlement hangs on the bank of a major river, offering a place to rest. The Original miners' cottages have been beautifully restored with modern kitchens and bathroom facilities.14 new eco retreats ,each themed after the pioneers of Corinna, have been built to compliment Corinna's original historic street scape,They all have gas fired wood heaters and large balconies that look out into the Tarkine rainforest. Corinna is the Tarkine eco-destination, an accessible starting point for visitors to connect with the remote wilderness. It reveals nature in the raw witnessed in its varied landscapes - amazing untouched rainforest, significant biological diversity, wild coastline, and the remnants of faded dreams and river crossing traditions. Step aboard the famous Arcadia II, a 70 year old huon pine river cruiser for an unforgettable, intimate, river and rainforest experience. Nature is our Key and we constantly strive every day to learn from and be part of our unique environment, some of our practices include solar power and water ( even in sunny Tasmania), we treat all our waste water on site through a enviro cycle system that lets the bugs do all the work, Plastic is an evil word here and with help from our suppliers its use at Corinna is limited. All guests are encouraged to take there rubbish with them and we take all of Corinnas rubbish 55km away, to a council waste disposal site. Corn starch bags are used for rubbish storage and transportation, they are 100% bio degradable and do break down in landfills or compost heaps. We have a long way to go but the Corinna team respects and has a sense of ownership towards this last great temperate rainforest , The Tarkine. Let us share it with you. |
