| Getting There |
1) By Air. From Auckland to Kerikeri airport. Complimentary pick up available. 2) By Coach. Regular services from Sky City in central Auckland to Kerikeri. Complimentary pick up available 3) By Road. Take SH1 Northern Motorway north from Auckland over the Harbour Bridge.Follow through Warkworth, Wellsford, Brynderwyn, Whangarei, to Kawakawa (on approach to Kawakawa go careful because the SH1 actually turns left into the town and the ‘straight on’ road changes to SH11). You will know you are on the right track because in the town the railway track actually runs down the middle of the road. You might like to take a few minutes to stop and visit the Hunderwasser Toilets –about half way along the main street on right hand side. Very unusual. Continue on SH1 for approx 14 Km from Kawakawa and turn right onto SH10 (Awkward to spot this intersection. It is in countryside just after a left hand bend. Sign posted Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, Doubtless Bay.) At next roundabout (Kerikeri / Airport roundabout) stay on SH10. At Waipapa pass through village and turn left into Pungaere Road (also sign posted Manginangina Scenic Reserve and Puketi Forest) Immediately turn left again into Koropewa Road. We are 0.88km from this intersection on right hand side. Look for 2 letter boxes close together, we are the second one. GPS Locator. 35 12 11.28 S / 173 54 11.34 E |

| Things To Do |
Enjoy our private and relaxing sub-tropical gardens and lounge in our swimming pool. Majestic Rainbow Falls and the Puketi Forest with breath taking 600 year old Kauri trees are nearby. Beautiful countryside surrounds us. Bustling Kerikeri with it's café society, shops, Stone Store, Kemp House, and Rewa’s Village heritage sites are 6 minutes away. Lively Paihia, ‘Hole in the Rock’, ‘Swimming with Dolphins’ and the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds are just 20 minutes away. Romantic Russell is easily reached by ferry. All sea based activities, plus Northlands famous beaches, World famous golf courses and Wineries are all within easy reach. Whether you like high excitement (there’s the ‘Excitor’ and Skydiving), gentle relaxing activities (like forest, countryside or seaside walks) or sitting back and enjoying something different (like the 90 mile beach tour) there is bound to be a great holiday for you when based at 88 Lodge. We are always happy to help with suggestions and planning to ensure you get the very best from your holiday of a lifetime. Our complimentary tour booking service ensures everything is as you want it to be. If you are looking to break your journey up on the way here we have a few suggestions you might fancy. A lovely beach for a picnic stop is Uretiti Beach. About half way between Brynderwyn and Whangarei. Look for the Waipu Golf Course on the right and then on a long straight watch for the sign. The beach is just by the road so no extra travelling time to reach it. As you enter go straight forward and park by the camping ground. Walk straight forward to the beach. Bring your picnic with you because there are no food facilities on this beach. Whangarei. The town centre and harbour area are worth a visit but getting into and out of the town will add about half an hour to your total travelling time. Plenty of eating and refreshment choices and probably the best overall shopping choices in Northland. The harbour area is particularly attractive but traffic in the town can be heavy during business hours. The ‘i site’ on the left just as you come into Whangarei is a good toilet stop if needed. There is also a reasonable café here. Kawiti Glow Worm Caves. A few kilometres before you get to Kawakawa on the right hand side. Great for an interesting and leg stretching break. Allow at least 1½ hours to give plenty of time for the Cave tour and bush walk. Well worth the admission. There are picnic tables here as well. The Hunderwasser Toilets at Kawakawa. You will know you have got to Kawakawa because the railway runs right up the middle of the main street. Yes it’s odd to recommend a stop at a public toilet just for the purposes of looking at them but believe us when we say they are very different and worth the stop. When you get to the Airport/Kerikeri roundabout on the SH10 turn right and go into Kerikeri (I.e. NOT following the direct route to us as shown on the map attachment). On the way through the town you will see several places of interest such as:- Pete’s Pioneer Museum, The Chocolate Factory, and the Kauri Kingdom shop. Traveling on through the town and down the hill to the Heritage Basin where you will find the Stone Store and Kemp House (both historic houses steeped in NZ’s history) and Rewa’s village an example of an original Mauri Village) Continue over the one lane bridge and up the hill turning left at the roundabout into Waipapa Road. Turn left into Rainbow falls road go to the end and visit the Rainbow falls. (These are the falls shown on our web site.). Finally return to the Waipapa Road & turn left towards Waipapa where you will be back on the map I have attached to get to us. |
