Located in an old stand of native beech on the banks of the Mangawhero River this secluded location is just 8km south of the Ohakune township making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy Mount Ruapehu’s distinctive surroundings and the many activities the region has to offer. Seasonal fly fishing behind the riverside cottages, enjoy a BBQ down by the river shaded by the Beach Trees or just lay back in our of our tree strung hammocks with a book enjoying the sounds of the river or views of mighty Mt Ruapehu. For the more adventurous allow your hosts to assist with accessing the many walks and attractions the region has on offer. The lodge can accommodate fourteen people in a warm and safe environment. Lodge and cottage accommodation provides a luxury hot tub housed in the purpose built gazebo, 1 hectare of lawns, Gardens and historial Beech Trees, Laundry facilities as well as mini bars, bath robes, hair dryers, luxury person products, iron and ironing board in each unit. Cottages come with in room TV and microwaves. The property limits guest numbers to maximise it's personalised service. It offers one super king sized suite with ensuite, balcony and moutain views, 1 king room with balcony and mountain views and king singles room with river views that are suited or let out separately as they come with a shared and interconnecting large bathroom with deep tub and separate shower. A comfortable guest lounge and conservatory with large fireplaces is a feature of the property along with it's banquet style dining room. There is Sky TV, DVD and internet on offer in the lodge. Two stand alone 1 room luxury cottages include: Super Queen bed, king single and modern comfortable divan Ensuite Wide screen television hair dryers microwave fridge mini bar iron and ironing board luxury personal products bath robes good quality linen and bedding Free standing fireplace Tea and coffee making facilities. From Ohakune township drive south from the BP station towards Raetehi. 5kms down the road you will cross the Mangawhero River bridge. 50 metres later make a sharp right turn onto Mangawhero River Road (gravel road). 2km down this road on the right hand side is The River Lodge. |

We can organise and have access to over 35 different activities in the local area ranging from the more extreme sports to a calming day at a health spa, golf, bus, walking and helicoper tours, trout fishing and hunting expeditions with experience guides. Biking into Ohakune via Mangawhero River Road is a great experience. Management can assist with bicycle hire. |
