The Diplomat Motel is a well established complex comprising of 12 spacious studio and 4 family units, all ground floor, all with Sky TV,full kitchens, shower & toilet. All Studio units have either a queen or a king bed plus a single bed in a shared room, the unit also has a dining table and sofa and can sleep 1-3 people with a 4th guest in a stretcher bed. All Family units are 2 bedroom with a king bed (which can be split into single beds )in one bedroom & 2 single beds in the other. All family units have a private outdoor area with plenty of room for a BBQ. We have a year round hot Spa and for the summer months we have a beautiful solar heated swimming pool, the childrens play area with a swing, slide and trampoline is very popular amongst our younger guests.Laundry facilities are available on site. We have a great location. Merivale shopping mall is 3 minutes walk, the supermarket is open till 9pm daily, there are a dozen or more restaurants from breakfast bars to Indian, Pizza, Stonegrill, Thai, Steakhouses, McDonalds all within 5 minutes walk. The City centre, Hagley Park, Museum & Arts centre, Botanic Gardens, Oxford strip & Art gallery are all within 5 minutes drive or a 20 minute walk. Buses virtually at the gate are frequent and cheap. Cycle hire is available at small cost. Cycle helmets (required by law) are provided. We are the closest motel to the Merivale eye clinic & St Georges Hospital, both being within a 5 minute walk. |

King bed in master bedroom able to be split into 2 singles if required, 2 single beds in the other bedroom, unit has separate lounge with Sky TV, full kitchen and bathroom with shower & toilet. Our family units have outdoor seating area with BBQ availble. Rates are for 4 people. Extra adults $15.00. Extra children $10.00. | Getting There |
From the North: The State highway 1 becomes the Main North Rd which becomes Papanui Rd. We are the first Motel on the right just after the Merivale shops. From the South. Head towards the city, when you reach Hagley Park turn left and follow the park around heading towards the north side of the city, turn left onto Papanui Rd and we are 300m up on the left hand side just before the Merivale shops. From Christchurch Airport: At the airport round- about turn left down Orchard Rd (past the Antarctic Centre on your right),keep going straight, this road becomes Harewood Rd. Follow this all the way till the end, turn right into Papanui Rd at the traffic lights and head towrds town for 2km. We are on the right hand side just past the Merivale shops. Taxi from Airport Approx NZ$40. The number 10 bus from the terminal stops at our gate and is an excellent budget choice of transport from the airport, if you are using this facility ask the driver for the 2nd bus stop after the Merivale shops and we are on the right hand side of the road. |

Christchurch is known as the Garden City all around New Zealand and the world. This is the largest of all the South Island cities having a population in excess of 300,000. Situated at the confluence of the Heathcote and Avon rivers with a back-drop of the port hills, Christchurch is the hub of the South Island.
