Viewing the river from Arcola's verandahs or strolling the tree lined avenues to the gallery & restaurants is a breeze from Arcola's ideal position. Built in 1907 as a Clarence River grand home, Arcola is renowned as the finest example of Queen Anne Revival Architecture in the Clarence Valley. The original Italianate influences and garden setting provide an idyllic atmosphere for relaxation & restoration. The high ceiling rooms with ornate design & expansive halls & rooms create a sense of elgance & style from an earlier time. Heavenly rooms by the river opening onto ironlace verandahs that lead you through the gardens, the hundred year old frangipannis, ancient giant figs and onto the banks of the majestic Clarence where once river boats passed and now osprey, wild duck & pelican grace the waters.
Enjoy your choice of 3 grand rooms, En suite Venetian bathroom, turn of the century settings & the romance of the experience. Each room opens onto verandahs and appointed beautifully.
Wonderful breakfasts served on the verandahs overlooking the river. Fresh local produce, coffee, and Arcola's fabulous breads with the time to sit and enjoy the food and absorb the atmosphere.

Both the Gibralter & Washpool National Park are World Heritage declared areas & a daytrip from Arcola B&B.
Half hour to the coast made so special by being protected by the Bunjalung & Yuragir National Parks. Bunjalung National Park streytches along the coast from Evan's Head to Iluka and includes expanses of open beach and coastal heatland. Available are great fishing access ,bushwalking canoeing on the lakes and swimming. All this from services and surrounds of Grafton City and the State Heritage B&B Arcola on the banks of the Clarence River.

Getting There Leave the airport the highway or the train station and cross the Grafton Clarence River Bridge. Travel along Fitzroy St. without deviating til you reach Alice Street. Turn left into Alice Street and travel to the end of Alice (200 metres) parking on the left. Arcola B&B is the last house on the left facing the Clarence river. Enter by the river front gate.
Parking Arcola has secure off street parking available for all our guests.
Things To Do While staying at Arcola B&B guests can relax and restore in the State heritage ambience of the home and gardens overlooking the glorious Clarence River and Susan Island.
A walk from Arcola along tree lined streets of Grafton will bring you to the Grafton Regional gallery and restaurant, to Roches family hotel & award winning bistro and all the facility & shopping of the major regional centre of Grafton. Each street is filled with architecturally significant historical homes and buildings to delight the lover of Australian heritage.
A day trip to the coast can find guests at Bundjalung National Park which stretches from Evans head to Iluka and protects expanses of open beach and coastal heathland and the wildlife that lives there. Here you will find great fishing access, canoeing & swimming. The Iluka Nature reserve ( walking track wheel chair access toilet) is part of the the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves of Australia World Heritage Area with a large area of coastal rainforest growing in the protection of the Iluka bluff. A birdlover's paradise.
From Arcola B&B to the Yuragir National Park which is half an hour away and is situated between the villages of Angourie and Corindi. Encompassing large swathes of undisturbed coastal land, the park is a haven for wildlife and for people who enjoy an uncrowdd natural setting. There are 6 visitor areas in the park each surrounded by beautiful natural coastal vegetation. South of Angourie is the home of the famous Angourie surf break and the Angourie Walk which hugs the coastline for 10kms. south to Lake Arragan.
Opposite Arcola B&B is the Susan Island Nature Reserve which is the home to thousands of flying foxes that roost on the island in the summer. A walking track on the west of the island takes you through the lowland rainforest remnant and beneath the rainforest colony.Access by boat arranged.
To the west of Arcola are the Nymboida River National Park, the Gibralter Range National Park ( World Heritage status ) Washpool National Park ( World heritage Rainforest ). Each offers its own individual features and share the qualities that bushwalkers and nature lovers pursue. Wilderness, a peaceful retreat in pristine country, a buge variety of plant life and bird & animal species, deep cut valleys and gorges, rapids and still pools.

Go on the coastal trek along the Angourie walk, visit Dirrangan Lookout and secluded Shelley Beach.
Visit Wilson's Headland as a great vantage point for whale watching from May to September.
Canoeing on Lake Arragan , Sandon or Wooli Rivers.
Take the Aboriginal Sites drive around the Lower Clarence valley.
Walk through World Heritage Rainforest at Iluka or Washpool.
Go bush walking at Nymboida or the Gibralter Range.
