Punakaiki Resort is tucked into the northern end of Punakaiki beach, just 50 meters from the high tide mark, and 300 meters south of the famous Pancake Rocks & Blowholes. Few places in the world can offer such comfort so close to the wild action. During the day explore the natural wonders of the Paparoa National Park, and later, enjoy an evening drink as you watch the sun set gloriously into the sea. An oasis of beach - side comfort tucked along a turbulent coast, Punakaiki Resort is the perfect place to linger and explore the coast that Kipling described as "thelast, loneliest, loveliest, exquisite apart". Designed in harmony with the local enviornment, our rooms are cleverly staggered for the best view, while maintaining privacy from one another. Elevated walkways wind over luxuriant plantings to access many rooms, quite a picture at night when light sensors usher ou subtly through. Guests often express a real interest in the Resort's extensive landscaped grounds. Each year our gardeners collect seeds and raise them in our nursery. Our aim is to eventually replace the exotic vegetation with local genetic stock. Our staff maintain the West Coast's traditions of friendliness and hospitality. With their knowledge of local walks, beaches and activities, they will help you enjoy the wonderful enviornment that begins a few metres beyond the front door of the hotel. Even the most modest wilderness workout deserves a reward, and the chefs in our Seascape Restaurant & Bar offer a range of delicious dishes to tempt your appetite. Floor-to-ceiling wrap around windows, give you the feeling of dining right on the beach. Leave your hotel room and in seconds you can be strolling a magnificently wild West Coast beach on the edge of the Paparoa National Park. |
