Nestled in the Port Hills, in the old suburb of Cashmere, your accommodation is ideally placed for visits to the centre of Christchurch and beyond. Overlooking the city, it has spectacular panoramic views of the city, Southern Alps, Pegasus Bay and Pacific Ocean. The uninterrupted view extends from the Kaikouras in the north east to beyond Mt. Hutt in the south west.

Your hosts, Angela and Barry, give an equally warm welcome to business and holiday travellers as well as providing those extra touches for special occasion visitors. We offer secure private off-street parking but if you are arriving without transport it would be our pleasure to meet you and convey you from the airport or station.

Each guest bedroom with its luxurious furnishings is a welcome retreat and has its own special allure befitting a home of its age. There are 3 Queen size rooms each with ensuite bathroom and each bedroom has been designed with your comfort in mind. Heavenly beds, delicious duvets, leadlight windows, high ceilings are all part of the Dyers House experience. Plump mattresses, elegant bed linen, fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer and an ironing set are all standard and toiletries are top of the range. Your room also includes the comforts expected of modern living such as the flat screen television with satellite channels, DVD library and high speed wireless internet access. Bedrooms and bathrooms all have under floor heating that can be individually regulated. Each ensuite bathroom includes a shower and the heated mirrors have flattering, bright lighting. Tea and coffee making facilities are accompanied by the fresh fruit platter, a host of snacks and daily scrumptious patisserie. A complimentary selection of wine and spirits is available in your room and cold refreshments can be found in the guest fridge.

Both Angela and Barry have had successful corporate careers internationally and Dyers House has a strong overseas clientele. Each evening enjoy a glass (or two) of local beer or wine and watch the sunset over the Alps before you go out to dinner. Its a great time, relaxing with Barry and Angela and other guests to enjoy the varied taste platter, good conversation, swap stories or share tales of your journey along the way.

The sitting room and the library are a comfortable retreat and internet access, including WiFi, and wide screen Sky TV are there for your convenience and enjoyment.

The upstairs dining room where breakfast is served is particularly special and affords panoramic views of Christchurch, Canterbury Plains, Pegasus Bay and the Southern Alps. You can select from a fresh fruit platter using local and seasonal fruits. A choice of juices, cereals, warm croissant, muffins and toast awaits and if you can manage it, a selection of egg dishes bacon and smoked salmon are high on the list of our guests' favourites. There is no set menu.

The city centre is just 15 minutes by bus (less by car) which stops opposite Dyers House. As well as all the major attractions like the Botanical Gardens in Hagley Park and the inspiring ReStart complex, the appeal of Christchurch increases day by day with new activities and places to explore and we recommend you to view our website to see details of latest additions and some of our favourites. Many good restaurants and bars are close by and we are happy to make recommendations.
If you like the exercise we are near Victoria Park, it too has spectacular views and there is a vast array of walking tracks to explore.
Venturing further afield we are only a short drive to the peninsular. The pretty village of Akaroa is just 70 minutes away and whilst you are there enjoy the harbour cruise and see the rare Hector's Dolphins.
Other easy day trips by car include the wine trails of Waipara, the thermal pools at Hanmer Springs, the TransAlpine scenic rail journey, High Country Explorer, whale-watching in Kaikoura.
