| Things To Do |
Every year in the month of August, Edinburgh stages the world famous International Festival which includes, amongst its numerous shows, the spectacular military tattoo on the castle esplanade. Edinburgh has both an Old Town and a New Town to explore, the latter dating back to Georgian times. The older half of the city was built on the volcanic rock leading up to the castle, with narrow alleyways which often lead to spectacular views. The Edinburgh Zoo has a number of magnificent species on view, but the tigers, lions and baboons are all but upstaged by the daily 'Penguin Parade.' The theatres, galleries and museums are as varied as the culture and architecture in the capital of Scotland, helping make it the envy of Europe. |
