Travel Times and km are approximate. Adelaide to Portland 6 1/2 hours Melbourne to Portland 4 hours Via The Great Ocean Road 7 1/2 hours From Warrnambool 99 km, 1 hr 10 min Take the Princess Hwy (1) from Warrnambool. After approx. 94 km you will reach an intersection, turn Left to Portland onto a double lane Hwy. Look for Victoria Road signs "Whalers Rest Motor Inn", approx. 2 km along this double lane carriageway, on the LEFT, you will find us (Whalers Rest Motor Inn), on the service road of Henty Hwy. From Hamilton 87 km, 50 min Take the Henty Hwy from Hamilton. Approx. 6 km from Portland it becomes a double lane Hwy. The Whalers Rest Motor Inn is approx. 2 km on your LEFT. Look for the blue Victoria Road signage. We are on a service road of Henty Hwy. From Mt Gambier 105 km, 1 hr 5 min Take the Princess Hwy from Mt Gambier to Heywood. On reaching the "T" intersection at Heywood, turn LEFT to Portland. Follow the Henty Hwy into Portland. Approx. 6 km from Portland it becomes a double lane Hwy. The Whalers Rest Motor Inn is approx. 2 km on your LEFT. Look for the blue Victoria Road signage. We are on the service road of Henty Hwy. |

Ideally situated at the Gateway to Portland you are a few minutes drive from all the popular Portland "must see" tourist attractions. Visit the birthplace of Victoria, walk the streets of Portland to see Historic buildings, the Maritime Museum, the Power House Museum and jump aboard the famous Portland Cable Tram. Swim, surf or fish. Why not charter a boat and try your luck at deep sea fishing? Take a short drive to visit the Seals by the Sea with the possibility of seeing whales and dolphins as well. Visit the Princess Margaret Caves, The Blue Lake, Waterfall Gardens, Nelson River and a host of wineries throughout the region. Reception will be able to assist you in recommending the "must sees" of Portland. |
