Visit Burnie's newest attraction, the Hellyer Whiskey Distillery - Sample the products or enjoy a coffee and the scenery. 17km of walking tracks, city sights, gardens and Burnie beach boardwalk with ocean views into Bass Strait. During the Summer season catch the Burnie Rail heritage train to the Penguin Markets - the North-west coast's biggest markets full of craft, bric a brac, books and much more. Nearby attractions include -Lactos Cheese factory tours and sampling -the Pioneer Museum -stroll the ocean boardwalk and see the penguins at play -tours of the Australian Paper mill -the fabulous display at Creative Paper -The world famous Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens -or go shopping in our ever expanding business district Burnie is also the perfect base to wander further afield for the day: -like to the Nut at Stanley -Gunns Plains Caves -local Vineyards -Port Sorrell -Cradle Mountain - coastal towns and villages ... and much more. |
