The Lodge has extensive parking both infront of and behind the Hotel. The Dedicated Hotel car Park is to the rear of the hotel. |
| Things To Do |
At the hotel: Located between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors the Lodge is ideal for visiting Heartbeat and Herriott Country as well as many attractions and historic houses. The new James Herriott Centre at Thirsk is worth visiting as well as nearby York. Bedale and the surrounding area is ideal for walking, fishing, riding, touring by car and shopping. Country houses and castles abound in this beautiful landscape that was painted by Turner and written about by the Herriot novels. The Heartbeat television series was filmed near here. Croft Motor Racing Circuit (15 km) and the historic towns and cities of York, Ripon, Richmond and Harrogate are all within easy reach. Lightwater Valley theme park (10 km) and shopping centre are only a 15 minute drive away. Set within 175 acres of country park, here there is fun for all the family. Enjoy white-knuckle roller-coasters, or, for the less adventurous, there is a stem train, boating lake and a children's visitor farm. The Lodge has a tourist information centre located in the shop. The Wensleydale Railway passes through some of the most beautiful scenrey in the Yorkshire Dales, running for 17 miles from Leeming Bar to Redmire on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Trains run throughout the year (daily during the summer; at weekends and during school holiday periods during the rest of the year). |
