The rich, warm decor, the smell of the leather Chesterfields, the high ceilings and intricate friezes all oozing the character and romance of earlier times. An elegantly set breakfast table awaits you generous breakfast provisions ,using tasmanian produce.yum!! Or if you prefer more modern living, there is a choice of fully self catering apartments beautifully decorated in a leisure living style. Perfect for the family stay, they can comfortably accommodate 2-4 people at a very reasonable rate.Breakfast provisions in these apartments is full english. Tubby and Padmans is a Georgian bed and breakfast in the heart of Swansea on Tasmania’s East Coast. The property boasts panoramic views across the Oyster Bay to the Freycinet Peninsula. The name originates from owners, George Padman and Mrs Uttiungton- Tubby his mother in law. The family sailed from Britain. The cottage was built circa 1840 as a two-storey department store. It has been well documented that the top storey of the building was removed when it was damaged by storm. Situation provides a good base on the East coast of Tasmania to visit Launceston Hobart and the Midlands and still enjoy the tranquillity of a historic country town.Tubbies is in walking distance to shops cafes resuarants, 5 mins to beach walks and swimming. 40 klms by car to the Freycinet National Park. All suites and apartments are self-contained, private and have CD's TV DVD. TV, All have hairdryers and access to a laundry and clothes lines and a dryer. BBQ facilities are available. Tubby and Padman is AAA 4 star, accredited by the Tourism Council of Tasmania. As history proceeds, the house has been owned both privately and for commercial ventures. One of the most well known ventures to the locals of Swansea was its time as a nursing home, ‘The Swansea Cottage Nursing Home. Many of the locals recall time spent with loved ones. in and The Swansea Cottage Nursing Home ceased to operate in the 1980s when the May Shaw Nursing Center was built. From nursing home, to back packers and then to private ownership. Now proudly owned by Greg and Sue Lodge, Tubby and Padmans lives again as self-contained bed and breakfast suites and apartments. The property consists heritage Suites within the property and two modern self-contained homely modern apartments to the rear of the property. Within the house: 1)Pepper suite is a prestige heritage suite recently refurbished displaying ornate cornices and a pretty archway in the hall. Ideal for that romantic getaway or honeymoon.The suite has 3 rooms ,own lounge open fire ,furnished with antiques ,boasts water views to the Freycinet Peninsular.Sleep in a queen sized four poster bed,and luxuriate in your double spa bath.Light cooking facilities. Rooms are serviced daily all dishes washed and replaced for the following day.Pepper has a comfortable double sofa bed in a separate lounge off a hallway and can now accommodate an extra 2 adults at an added tariff of $45.00 When more than 2 guests are in Pepper a private self catering b'fast room will be opened from 0800-0945AM . Max 4 guests BBQ facilities available if required Sit on your own verandah overlooking the bay eating fish and chips and siping east coast wine. 2) Baudin Suite boasts water views to Freycinet.Breakfast provisions are fruit yoghurt, eggs bacon bread condiiments plunger coffee. Suite has light cooking facilities and is serviced daily. Furnished with antiques and traditional décor, sleep in a double brass and wrought iron bed relax on a chesterfield couch, or sit at the elegantly set breakfast table eating breakfast watching the boats in the bay. Ideal for honeymoons and special occasions. on request 3) Willow 2 BR apartment is to the rear of the property. A modern 2 B/R apt in a garden setting .Consists of Queen B/R ,DBLe B/R and a single bed in the sunroom This apartment has a full kitchen dining room and double spa bathroom Furnished in bright light décor .The maximum occupancy 4 persons. Advertsed rate is for 2 guests .Extra guests $45.00 per night each .It has a home like feel and has proved to be a popular apartment. Has private garden own deck and seating area. Includes full English breakfast provisions. 5) Shell apartment is a modern one-bedroom apartment with shower .Maximum occupancy 4 persons . Ensuited Queen bedroom ,Double comfortable sofa bed in the loungeroom,with separate entrance to the bathroom. Shell is a ground floor unit and is also suited to the older traveller who would prefer a shower to a Spa. Has own deck. full kitchen .Breakfast provisions are full English. All Apartments and Suites have complimentary port and chocolates on arrival. Local attractions within walking distance are: restaurants and cafes. Swansea is situated on the East Coast of Tasmania 1 ½ hours from Hobart and Launceston. A quiet historic village ideal to relax by the water, walk on the beach, read a book or if you wish go sightseeing. Tubby’s is within walking distance of cafes, restaurants, galleries museums, and gift shops, a nine-hole golf course. Local attractions · Kate’s Berry Farm, spectacular views, ice creams berries in season, berry wines and Devonshire teas. · The Bark Mill – Tasmanian Wine, wool and wattle bark museum and now Swansea’s Tavern. · Gallery One Nine – gifts, souvenirs, imported Asian wares. Your can travel south to Spiky Bridge built by the convicts. Travel to Triabunna catch the ferry to Maria Island and see the penal settlement, birds and sea life. Traveling north 10kms turn into the Lake Leake road visit waterfalls or have a meal at the Lake Leake Tavern! Travel to the Heritage Highway to Campbell Town, Ross and Oatlands. See historic sandstone villages, historic buildings and bridges, antique shops, restaurants and cafes. Travel north of Tubby & Padmans 25 mins to the Coles Bay turnoff on your way visiting numerous walnut farms and wineries. Once at the coles bay turnoff travel 20mins to the Freycinet National Park. Partake of walks into Wineglass Bay, visit the Lodge, take a sea charter and spot the dolphins. Walk into Friendly Beaches or visit Honeymoon Bay. For the more adventurous canoeing, abseiling, sea kayaking, four wheel driving or ride a quad bike on the beach – your Freycinet Escape. Continue up the coast to Bicheno to view the blow hole or take a dusk tour of the fairy penguins and the list goes on.
