|Things To Do||
Pack a picnic and explore the property. Daisy Bank farm is 860 acres, most of which is arable. We have Polworth sheep for wool, irrigated cropping including alkaloid poppies, peas, vegetable seeds and barley for the Cascade Brewery.
There is also a bush reserve containing beautiful white gum and black peppermint forest with a gorgeous display of orchids in October - November.
Alternatively you can explore the village, which is famous for its Georgian architecture, the Richmond Bridge and Australia?s oldest Catholic Church. Discover the convict heritage of the town, including the Richmond Goal. There are plenty of galleries and craft shops featuring Tasmanian products, as well as antique shops and the local maze.
Eating out and wine tasting
There is a delicious bakery in Richmond and for dinner there is a choice of a few restaurants and cafes. We are located in the Coal River Valley, one of Tasmania?s large wine-producing areas. You can take a drive through the countryside and taste some of the fine cool climate wines at the cellar door.
Hobart and galleries
Hobart is only a 25 minute drive away and is full of great restaurants, shops, the Tasmanian Museum, Salamanca Market and of course the wonderful art galleries. The recently opened Museum of Old and New Art at Berridale is a must see.
There are plenty of activities in the area to explore with children. Zoodoo and the Bonorong Wildlife park are only 10 minutes and 20 minutes away respectively, there is the Richmond maze to get lost in or if you fancy a stroll on the river around the Richmond bridge you can collect some duck bread from the bakery and feed the ducks.
If you feel like a hit of golf, we are minutes away from the Richmond public golf course, and 20 minutes away from the Richmond golf club (Cambridge) and the Tasmania golf club (near Airport). There is also a tennis court in Richmond.
We are conveniently located 20 minutes from the airport and we make the perfect base for exploring the Huon and Derwent Valleys and the Tasman Peninsula including Port Arthur.
