National Palace Museum The National Palace Museum is one the most exciting museums in the world. The collection of Chinese art, historical items and artifacts are considered the most precious cultural treasures of China. It is a must see for foreign visitors. The contents of the museum contain almost all of the important artifacts of the 5,000 years of Chinese history. Most of these artifacts were formerly the property of the Imperial Family. The exhibits change every season and there are also special exhibits featuring different topics. Yangmingshan National park The so-called "back garden of Taipei", Yangmingshan National Park offers a beautiful and natural mountain setting with numerous natural hot springs. It is the perfect place for those who enjoy a walk in the mountains or hot-spring bathing in a spa type setting. February and March on Yangmingshan bring the flower season. During this time of year a large selection of flowers begin to bloom all over the mountain. In autumn, especially during October, the orange maple trees on the mountain reveal a spectacular view of Mt. Tatun. In winter, the steady rain and cold wind due to the effects of the northeastern monsoon cover Yangmingshan. The low temperatures, cloudy skies and fog create a unique view of the mountain, and during this season, you can even see snow falling on Mt. Chihsing, Mt. Chutzu and Mt. Tatun. Shih Lin Night Market The Shih Lin Night Market is the largest Night Market in Taipei and is saturated with people almost every night. The market offers a large variety of food including steaks, Teppanyaki, fried chicken, fried oysters and just about every Chinese or Taiwanese food you could possibly think of. Additionally, there are numerous shops selling shoes, clothing, handbags, and jewelry. The Shih Lin Night Market is a must see destination for anyone visiting Taipei. Hsimen Tin With the recent reconstruction by the Taipei City Government, Hsimen Tin has a new appearance and feeling totally different from the past. This area has become very busy and is one of the favorite and trendy places to shop for the younger generation. The area offers a large and diverse variety of stores, theaters, and restaurants. Hsimen Tin is a ¡§must see¡¨ destination for anyone visiting Taipei. |
