Situated in York Street, one of the major city arteries and located between George and High Streets. It is approximately 800 meters from the P.O. on the East side of the city. When approaching from Hobart [or Launceston Airport] along the main highway, turn right into Howick Street [first set of traffic lights as you enter Launceston]. Proceed to the T Junction, turn left into High Street. Drive approx. 1 km to the first set of traffic lights, turn left [York Street] and the Country Comfort is just around the corner. Launceston is 15 minutes from the airport. Hire cars,taxis and shuttle buses are readily available. |

At the top of York Street [Windmill Hill] directly opposite the magnificent new Olympic size swim complex with fabulous views across the Tamar River and City. The list of things to see and do is endless! Aurora Football Stadium, Cataract Gorge and Chairlift, Old Seaport Marina and Boardwalk (Restaurants and the Tamar River Cruises), beautiful State Forests, Grindewald Swiss Village, Launceston Racecourse, the picturesque Tamar Valley, Dr. Harry's Veterinary Farm, the renowned Tamar Wine Route, great Wineries, the Launceston Basketball and Tennis Sporting Complex, City Park with its unique monkey enclosure, the Australian Maritime College, Universities, Museums, Design Centre, Car Museum, great weekend markets, Inveresk Art Gallery, world standard Golf courses, Tasmanian Devil wildlife parks and the Launceston Casino are all very close. Seahorse World, Platypus House at Beauty Point and the Beaconsfield Grubb Shaft Museum are only an easy 35 minute drive. George Town [a popular fishing spot] and Bridestone Lavendar Farm are only 40 minutes along the East side of the Tamar River and even Cradle Mountain is only about 2 hours by car. Visit the Boag's Brewery Tours & Centre for Beer Lovers, take a guided or self drive tour of the historic homes, experience Cable Hang Gliding (weather permitting), or if you're game, take the evening Ghost Tour. There is so much to do and see and being roughly in the centre of Tasmania it is not unusual for people to use us as a "base camp" for an extended period and set off daily to explore Devonport, Burnie, Hobart, Sheffield [the town of murals], Deloraine, the Great Western Tiers, Cradle Mountain, the East Coast, etc. and return at night to plan their next adventure rather than pack up and continually move around. We even have a tourism video on 3 times a day in your suite showcasing all Tasmania has to offer to help you decide on your next experience! The perfect base for exploring the whole region inc. Cradle Mountain or just relax at the Roman Baths or with a round of golf at Launceston's magnificent courses. Easy access to the airport. |
