Well, the swallows are back, so Spring is well and truly in the air!

Redcliffe House is a lovely old country homestead, just a 10 minute walk from Swansea’s restaurants and shops. What a warm and welcoming sight as you come up the drive at the end of a hard day’s exploring the many beautiful sights and experiences around Tasmania’s Freycinet coast. The property is set back from Tasman Highway up a winding driveway past the property’s small vineyard to a spacious guest carpark.

We offer a traditional B&B experience – room to unwind, beds that offer the comfort you would choose for your own home, sofas or armchairs in all guest rooms, and a breakfast that is exceptional both in quality and quantity. If our guests would like a quiet night ‘at home’, there are many excellent takeaway restaurants in Swansea, and with a glass or two of Tasmanian wine, fresh bread and Tasmanian cheeses, what a lovely way to spend an evening in the gardens or on the veranda with the splendid sparkling evening sky overhead. If the weather isn’t so considerate, borrow a DVD from our library, or play a board game or card game with other guests in the lounge. We also have a range of books and magazines for a more solitary activity.

We have two breakfast rooms, so you can either choose to join other travellers and swap experiences and stories, or enjoy a private breakfast in our second dining room – just let us know your preference. Our breakfasts attract a lot of great comments and appreciation from our guests – we offer fresh fruit salad (in season), cereals, yoghurt, fruit juice, a cooked traditional breakfast, toast with spreads, and, of course, teas and coffee.

Guests may check their emails free of charge.

The property is on 5.5 hectares, and the building dates back to 1835, but Swansea is only 1.5kms down the road – just perfect for those people who would like to enjoy the pleasures of our excellent local restaurants, yet who appreciate tranquillity and peace at night. The Meredith river runs alongside the property, and a couple of permanent water holes may well prove an enticement to those who would like to cool off. The opportunity to see how many species of birdlife can be spotted, or perhaps enjoy an encounter with wallabies, wombats, echidnas or possums is ever present.

As a gateway to Freycinet Peninsula, Wineglass Bay and the east coast, or the Midlands, Redcliffe House is a perfect home base.
