A CLASSIC and BOUTIQUE motel recently renovated and decorated in a RETRO style using restored furniture from the 1960s and ’70s. THE LAKE is the only Motel in New Zealand to be featured in ‘NZ Home and Entertaining’; NZ’s Top design magazine. Ideally situated: 200 metres from the lakefront, close to town and restaurants, and just off the main highway. THE LAKE has just 5 rooms and the attention to detail is second to none. Surrounded by trees, THE LAKE is full of character and reflects the beach house culture that Taupo is famous for. |

Rates are for 1-2 people. Maximum is 3.Extra guest charge $20. Bedding configuration is 1 queen.1 single. The ‘apartment like’ room has living area, dining area, kitchen , bathroom with power shower. | Getting There |
BY CAR FROM NORTH: Drive straight towards Taupo town so that Lake Taupo is on your right-hand side. Keep going along the ‘motel strip’ (Lake Terrace) passing the fire station until you see a restaurant on the left-hand side called THE BACH (Pataka Rd). The next left (sharp turn) is Mere Rd and we are 1 block up on the left-hand side. FROM SOUTH: Continue towards Taupo passing the Napier turn-off on your right and the Mobil petrol station. Soon after, there is a right turn (Mere Rd) and we are 1 block up on the left-hand side. THE LAKE is only a short taxi ride from the airport or coach station. |

| Things To Do |
EAT: THE LAKE is close to Taupo's many restaurants, cafes and bars. Just 3 minutes away is the award-winning restaurant 'THE BACH'. And close by is the winner of Best Cafe in The Central Plateau 'ZEST'. SWIM: THE LAKE is just 300 metres from Lake Taupo and a good swimming beach. 5 minutes drive and we have Taupo Hot Springs - very relaxing and apparently very healthy! HAVE FUN: Try one or all of the following - Bungy jump, sky dive, ropes assault course, gliding, parasailing, mini golf, 9 or 18 hole golf, jet boat ride... All activities can be arranged by us. WALK: Some fantastic walks nearby and slighty further afield; and some real local secrets! |
