Hotel Mingood is excellently located on the fringe of the city centre with an excellent high-speed free wifi connection to the entire hotel. We are within 2 minutes walking distance to the city centre of George Town an UNESCO World Heritage Site and you don't need to travel far to visit 'Chinatown', 'Little India', 'The Heritage Trail' or 'UPR Entertainment Centre'. A short walk down Penang Road takes you to 'Komtar', the city's premier landmark and shopping mall. Fine dinning and local hawker food are all available on your doorstep. Located close to the chic part of town with excellent nightlife, surrounded by cafes, multi-ethnic restaurants, shops and the coolest bars & pubs. In fact ,the famous New World Park Food Court and Entertainment Centre is just 520 steps (a mere 5 minute walk)from the hotel.

From its spacious lobby and rooms, Mingood offers friendly and courteous service where our goal is to create a cosy atmosphere for an enjoyable and memorable stay. We are a 50 room hotel with spacious, air-conditioned rooms with attached bathrooms. Getting There From the Train Station or Butterworth Bus Terminal:
By following the signs, it will lead you to the ferry terminal which is adjacent to the train station. The ferry fare is about RM1.20. The journey to Georgetown terminal takes about 20 minutes. From the terminal, a 3 minute walk takes you to the taxi/bus stand. The taxi fare should be around RM8-10 and the journey through the streets of Georgetown should take only 10 minutes. You can also try the trishaws and the fare should not be more than RM10. (Please enquire the fare before boarding a taxi or trishaw).You may take the RapidPenang Public bus (Fare RM1) to Penang Road (stop in front of 7/11)

If you are driving, turn left as you come out from the ferry terminal. You are now in Jalan Pengkalan Weld. Make a right at the first right turning and you will be in Chulia Street. By driving along this street, it will lead to the end where it meets Penang Road and Argyll Road. You will see Veenai Odeon cinema right in front of you. There is a road divider ahead which blocks your passage to Argyll Road. Turn left into Penang road and take the first right into Dato' Koyah road and another right into Clarke Street. You will see the MAA Building as you make a left into Argyll road. We are just 3 doors from the MAA building. You will notice a Caltex petrol station on your left before reaching the hotel.

From the Langkawi/Medan Ferry Terminal
As you come out of the terminal, there are lots of taxis and trishaws available. You can board either but remember to enquire the fare before boarding, which should not be more than RM8 for either. The terminal is just beside the Fort Cornwallis (an old British fort) which is within the Esplanade grounds. The short route takes you through a scenic part of Georgetown with some old majestic buildings along the way and the ride by taxi should be less than 10 minutes.

From Penang Bridge by car
As you cross one of Asia's longest bridge, you will be able to see Jerejak Island (a former penal colony converted to resort) on your left. As you approach the island, follow the signboard which indicates the direction to Georgetown. You will now be driving along the coastal road, once you see Tesco on your left, you on the Jelutong Expressway , watch out for the signboard which indicates 'Pusat Bandar' (City Center). Drive till you finally reach Traders’ Hotel and Komtar which is on your right. Take the first right turn after the traffic lights .Continue your journey and turn left at the overhead pedestrian bridge. You are now in Burmah Road. The first right turn in Burmah road takes you to Transfer Road. Drive on till you see a Caltex petrol station and just after Caltex, turn left into Argyll Road. We are just before MAA Building.

From Penang Bus Terminal(Sungei Nibong)
Taxi fare to hotel RM25 Duration 20 mins.There is a Bus Stop just outside of the terminal. Take the Milan Bus (Yellow) with direction board TO KOMTAR. Fare RM2 Duration 35-45 mins. From KOMTAR its a 15 mins walk to the hotel (see map). Taxi or trishaw from KOMTAR . Fare RM10 Duration 3-5 mins.

FROM AIRPORT
One can get to the hotel by airport taxi which operates by coupon system . Get the coupon from its counter which is located right infront of the exit door of the arrival hall. The costs is RM38.00 to the hotel and will take not more than 30 minutes.You can also take the Public Bus but you will have to walk to the the main road outside the Airport Complex. Take the Milan Bus (Yellow) with a direction board TO KOMTAR . Fare RM3 . Duration 60-80 mins. From KOMTAR, its a 15 mins walk to the hotel (see map). Taxi or trishaw from KOMTAR will cost RM10

For those coming from Thailand by mini van, most mini vans will stop at Chulia Street which is about 400m from the hotel. At times the driver will drive you to our doorstep , if you tip them a few ringgits (RM5).
Parking Ample Free Car Park . Open and Secure under cover parking. On-street parking also available.
Things To Do Penang lies just off the north western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It was Britain's 1st settlement (Est.1786) in the region & for a short time was Malaya's capital before Singapore stole its thunder. Georgetown, the capital of Penang State, combines the best of past and present, East & West, as displayed by its diverse architecture & culture. Laid-back Georgetown is best seen as a walking tour : take your time and meander thru its back streets and discover some of its hidden treasures : Kuan Yin Temple, Kapitan Keling Mosque, Khoo Kongsi Clan House and much more. Pick up the "Heritage Walking Map" and discover its beauty . Some of the "MUST SEE" in Georgetown are :

* Penang Museum : The best presented museum in Malaysia. Excellent, well-labeled exhibits showcase Penang's history and historical figures, diverse cultures and more. Open from 9am to 5pm. Closed on Friday. Admission fee RM1.00

* Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (Maison Bleu) : Cheong Fatt Tze (1840-1917), once dubbed as "China's Rockefeller" by The New York Times, built a vast commercial empire in South East Asia, 1st in Indonesia, then in Singapore. He came to Penang in 1890 and continued his success, giving some of his spoils to build schools throughout the region. His mansion, where he lived with his eight wives was built between 1896 and 1904. Inside are lavish adornments : stained glass, crown moldings, gilded wood-carved doors, ceramic ornaments & seven staircases.

*Sri Mariamman Temple : A typical South Indian temple with its elaborately sculptured & painted superstructure (called "Gopura" in hindu) represents Mt Meru - the cosmic mountain that supports the heavens-that rises above its shrine. Built in 1883 , this is Georgetown's oldest Hindu temple & testimony to the strong Indian influence you'll find in this predominantly Chinese town.

*Fort Cornwallis : Today , the battlement studded with old cannons are the only reminder of the fort that was built on the spot where Captain Francis Light first stepped ashore in 1786. Seri Rambai, the largest & most important cannon here is famed for its provocative powers - childless women are advised to place flowers in the barrel and offer it special prayers.

Outside of Georgetown

Kek Lok Si Temple: On a hilltop at Air Itam, close to Penang Hill funicular station stands Malaysia's largest Buddhist temple. Construction started in 1890 & took over 20 years to complete. Its part of colorful Penang that definitely shouldn't be missed. Walk through the arcade of souvenier stalls, tightly packed turtle& fish ponds until you reach Ban Po Thar (Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda). A small donation will let you climb to the top of the 7-tiered, 30 Mtr high tower which in design is Burmese at the top, Chinese at the bottom & Thai in between. Open from 0900am to 6.00pm

Penang Hill: Escape the city heat & catch some amazing views of Georgetown from Penang Hill(821 Mtrs). There are gardens, tea stalls, an aviary tree-top canopy swinging bridge walk, a Hindu Temple & a mosque at the top. Penang Hill is at its best at dusk as Georgetown, far below starts to light up. / Open from 06.30am ti 9.30pm - Mon. to Fri.

Botanical Gardens: Also called the Monkey Gardens due to the many long-tailed Macaques that hang-out here. Within the gardens are orchid & palm houses & cactus gardens & sun rookery. A path leads to the top of Penang Hill./Open 05.00am to 8.00pm Admission is Free
