10 km from downtown Danang (as bee-line), Son Tra is a beautiful peninsula long sandy beach with picturesque rapids, primeval forests where there are valuable woods and unusual species of birds and animals. On the top of mountain 700 m above the sea level tourists could see panoramic view of Danang city, the Danang bay, the Marble Mountains and Bach Ma mountain further to southwest.
Son Tra Peninsula is classified s as National Park by the central government. This National Park not only preserves wild life but also a source of a cool clean water.
The peninsula is a natural screen protecting Danang from storms coming from the sea. Son Tra is home of several animal species as monkeys, sea tortoise and turtle rarely found in the world. The eggs of sea tortoise and turtle are good to be exported. In general Son Tra is a habitat of rare flora and fauna.
Son Tra is not only a natural summer resort for local people at weekend but also a tourist attraction due to its abundant species of flora and fauna.
In summertime from the cool breezy top of the mountain, one can look down at the city lying along the banks of the brilliant Han river below. It is an enjoyable and peaceful vista.
The Chess board peak is on Son Tra peninsula. This is flat plain covered with old-trees. It is said that this used to be a place for the fairies to play chess and amuse themselves. The stone-stream flows south of Son Tra. At the altitude of 300 m the blue clear current of water fall down directly on pilling rocks which creates a lovely picture.

* Hoi An (A UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Established in the 15th century, the ancient town of Hoi An was once one of the most important trading ports in Southeast Asia and an important centre of East-West cultural exchange. Its ancient past is superbly preserved in fascinating temples, pagodas, shop houses and homes which make up the town?s old quarter. Hoi An is 15 miles (25km) southeast of Danang.
My Son Valley (A UNESCO World Heritage Site)
My Son Valley was the spiritual centre of the ancient Cham civilisation, in the same way as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Borobudur in Indonesia and Pagan in Myanmar. A religious sanctuary since the 4th century, its history is reflected in the temples and towers that remain. It is also the home of the Museum of Cham Sculpture, which records the development of the culture and history of the Cham people through their elaborate sculptures and carvings. My Son Valley is 42 miles (70km) southwest of Danang.
* Hue (A UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Hue was once the national capital and is today one of Vietnam's most important historical attractions. The Imperial City was home to 13 emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty. The Royal Citadel, constructed in 1805, is equalled only by the spectacular Forbidden City in Beijing. The charm of this timeless city lies not only in its historical and architectural value, but also the natural beauty of its location on the banks of the Perfume River. Hue is 62 miles (110km) north of Danang.
* Phong Nha Caves
Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a giant mountain reserve which stretches to the border of Laos, is renowned for the spectacular Phong Nha Caves - buried within Vietnam's largest primeval jungle. Phong Nha's grottos and passages extend for 44.5 kilometres into a limestone mountain. Discovered in 1935, the underground system was opened to tourists three years ago, with stalactite and stalagmite-adorned abysses romantically named "Roads to Hell" and "Roads to Heaven". Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is 170 kms north of Danang.

The biggest War Museum about Vietnamese Revolution against French and American for more than one hundred years.

Marble Mountains
Five miles (8km) south of Danang, a cluster of five hills is known as Marble Mountains or "Mountains of the Five Elements". Mysterious caves within the mountains conceal elaborate altars dedicated to Buddha, Bodhisattvas and the different genies of local folklore. Dating back centuries, they still serve as religious sanctuaries. The mountains also provide a valuable source of red, white and blue-green marble, and at the foot of the mountain, skilled marble carvers chisel out an interesting variety of objets d'art which make ideal souvenirs.
