Wanaka is a very special place and Riverrun is a special place from which to explore it. The lodge is set on an escarpment with unobstructed views of New Zealand's Southern Alps from every room. Designed by a local architect, the reclaimed hardwood timber and beams used in the lodge construction give the guest accommodation and living areas a sense of warmth, intimacy and history. Richly polished jarrah floors extend throughout both lounges, historic wharf timbers and massive railway beams show century old adze work. Handcrafted furniture and original metal balustrades and light fittings make this a superbly individual environment. Facilities include email and internet, satellite TV, CD players, TV/video, an extensive library of books, movies, music and magazines, a separate guest area with tea/coffee making and guest fridge, private outdoor hot tub, ski locker rooms, mountain bikes and fishing rods.

The two ground floor lounges each have a roaring log fire, generous seating and open onto deep verandas with panoramic mountain views. Books, chocolates, fresh fruit, nuts and complimentary refreshments ensure guests feel both indulged and at home. Guest accommodation at the lodge is uncluttered, spacious, comfortable and simply relaxing, with carefully chosen touches of luxury in the pure calendared cotton bed linen, big wrap robes, extra large bath towels, herbal soaps and toiletries, feather down pillows and New Zealand wool duvets. Clutha rooms are larger with super-king or twin beds and video as well as TV, the Cardrona rooms have a queen size bed, and open directly onto a veranda. All rooms have spacious ensuite bathrooms.

Check In Instructions	Please ensure you have directions to find us as we are off the main road. There will be an extra charge for guests who check in after 10.30pm at night, and also for late check-outs.

Getting There	DIRECTIONS Please note that if you are using GPS navigation it is important to input the full address - 86 Halliday Road, Wanaka 9382. Coming from QUEENSTOWN or CHRISTCHURCH on SH6 Watch out for Wanaka airport (small) on your right, and 2-3 minutes drive-time later, also on your RIGHT, you will come to Halliday Road, an unsealed road off SH6. Drive to the end of Halliday Road, in through the stone gates, past the farm buildings and on up to the lodge which is set up on the hillside. Christchurch is 5 - 5 1/2 hours drive, Queenstown by this route is 1 hr 30 mins. If you drive from QUEENSTOWN via highway 89 and the Crown Range, the trip is slightly shorter (1 hour). The road is a high switch-back and more exposed, with magnificent views, all the way is now sealed asphalt. This road takes you in to Wanaka township and to reach us you need to drive out the other side onto SH6 - pass (but do not take) the turn-off to the West Coast, continue on SH6 and turn left down Halliday Road, continue as above. If you reach the airport you have driven too far. Arriving from the WEST COAST you will cross the Clutha River and shortly after arrive at a T intersection - 2 mins to your right is Wanaka, but turn left onto SH6 continue 1-2 mins until you reach Halliday Road, also on your left. Drive to the end of Halliday Road, in through the stone gates, past the farm buildings and on up to the lodge which is set up on the hillside. From Franz Josef to Wanaka is 4-5 hours, but the trip is a spectacular one and you should allow plenty of time.
