Only a three and half hour drive from Sydney and you will find yourself in the heart of the countryside. With kangaroos lazing about in the front paddock and the Erudgere Valley in the foreground it is a true Australian landscape painting. Protea Cottage is a an established brick home accommodating up to eight (8) people and offering comforts which contribute to a truly relaxing and memorable stay. Fully air conditioned and also providing the option of ceiling fans in each bedroom alleviates the heat of the day in summer and for those chilly Mudgee evenings there is a large cast iron pot belly stove which heats the whole cottage. There is a spacious bedroom with queen sized bed and an en suite shower room, and a further 2 queen sized bedrooms and a family bathroom. The solid Teak Dining Table in the dining area comfortably seats 8 people and looks out to a barbeque and rockery. There is also a double sofabed/lounge to accommodate two more guests ( so cottage can sleep 8 in total). The kitchen is full size with a large fridge, double sink and is well equipped with cooking equipment and crockery. Sit on the front verandah of Protea Cottage and take in the view of the Erudgere Valley and the native shrubs in the immediate garden before you. Or take a walk around the cleared area of the property and wind down. A bushwalk through our twelve acres of bush is always popular or a game of tennis on the full size court If the weather turns inclement, don't worry as there is a dvd library, plenty of books in the lounge room, a dvd player, board games and Austar. The other cottage, Grevillea Cottage is more secluded and in an elevated position with glorious views. This cottage is only nine years old and offers three bedrooms with Queen size beds and a double futon in the lounge room. This cottage has two bathrooms and an open plan area dominated by a Kauri Pine square dining table which seats eight. The bookshelf contains a variety of novels and coffee table books. Austar, CD Player, and DVD Player. As with Protea Cottage, Grevillea Cottage has an air conditioner, ceiling fans in the bedrooms and a beautiful log fire. The views from two bedrooms and the lounge and dining area are magnificent. The elevation provides the 'Postcard' vista and guests can enjoy the total vastness and space of the Australian countryside. Grevillea Cottage also has a delightful courtyard which is privately screened by a hedge of abundantly flowering Grevilleas. In the courtyard is a cottage type garden with native plants such as, Kangaroo Paw and a barbeque and an outdoor setting which seats eight. Locally hand made soaps are provided, as are bed linen and towels. Between April and October our Protea Orchard is in full colour with five different varieties showing off their spectacular blooms. Just two kilometres from our entrance one can visit four wineries and sample some marvellous tapenades, relishes, olive oils and a varied and elaborate selection of wines. |

Grevillea Cottage
The cottages have three bedrooms and are spacious and contained within the dwelling providing lounge, kitchen, dining and bbq facilities. All have access to 12 acres of virgin bush and a full size tennis court. Rates are for 2 people. Extra adults $75.00. Extra children $35.00. The room caters for a maximum of 8 adults, and a maximum of 3 children but cannot exceed 8 guests in total. The following bedding is provided:

| Getting There |
From downtown Mudgee, take the Gulgong Road northwest from Town. Just past the railway tracks, turn left into Hill End Road at Honey Haven, for approximately 7½ kms. Turn left into Carara Road, 500 metres to our front gate, up the hill, on the right. |

There are designated car spaces on the property close to each cottage. The area is large enough to take a variety of vehicles. |

Cellar Doors - Local produce, wine tasting and art exhibitions. Museums and galleries and more vineyards and Olive Groves in the Mudgee vicinity. Forty-three existing today. Gold fossicking at Hill End and visiting historical sites. Museums at Gulgong. Swimming and fishing at Dunns Swamp and bush walking in the numerous National Parks surrounding Mudgee. Golf, tennis and motor cross close by. |
