Welcome to our little piece of paradise that is Ambleside Bed & Breakfast! Opened in June 2003, Ambleside Luxury Bed & Breakfast, like it's namesake in England, has a typical olde worlde charm. Situated on S.H.6, Ambleside Bed & Breakfast, easily located, is half-way between Nelson city and Richmond (10 minutes drive in either direction to the CBDs) and only 1 hours drive from the entrance to our beautiful and famous Abel Tasman National Park. As the guest wing is located at the rear of the property alongside a stream, the situation provides peace and tranquility and a place for you to relax and unwind in the privacy of the landscaped gardens. The purpose-built single-storey guest wing comprising a separate guest lounge, separate access and four guest bedrooms each with own ensuite is luxuriously appointed, exuding comfort, style and ambience, and has a four-star-plus Qualmark rating. There are also two out-door dining rooms surrounded by the shrubbery for privacy and ambience. Each ensuite is fully equipped with heated towel rails, beautiful fluffy towels, hair-dryer and luxury toiletries. The rooms have top-quality beds, 100% cotton linen, electric blankets, chairs and dressing tables, fresh flowers and chocolates. We provide a turn-down service if requested. The burgundy room has a large bathroom with disability access and facilities. The guest lounge, equipped with SKY TV, easy listening music, WiFi internet and laptop computer, an extensive brochure and map display, books, games and tea/coffee making facilities, also showcases local art. When it comes to breakfast, our guests say "Kees's breakfasts are second to none" and you can choose from the extensive breakfast menu - continental, kiwi cooked, and gourmet cooked accompanied by a fresh fruit platter. You may also like an early morning cuppa or a coffee made with fresh beans from our local roastery. Dine at the time of your choice in the sun-filled surrounds on the deck or the courtyard and enjoy the delicious aromas of the other guests breakfasts wafting by; (then you'll know what to have the next day!!) Please don't hesitate to ask if you have special dietary requirements. We endeavour to source local, organic if possible, and fresh produce. Yummy home-made baking and refreshments are served throughout the course of your stay and in the evenings enjoy fun, laughter and friends with a glass of local wine and tasty treat accompaniments. Relax in the Jacuzzi with a wine and enjoy our long balmy twilights! BBQ facilities are available for your use in the courtyard and extras such as condiments, sauces and utensils etc are provided. Make your stay even more memorable as you feed the tame eels at twilight; spot the blue heron; delight in the baby ducklings sailing up the stream or just revel in the ambience created by the stream flowing over the rocks. Or simply relax with a good book whilst soaking up the sun, and sampling a local wine. Chelsea, our Maine Coon cat may pop by to say hello but she won't out-stay her welcome! Your friendly and caring hosts will also help you with planning your Nelson itinerary if desired and as there is so much to see and do in the region, will make recommendations to ensure you receive the most from your stay. However your hosts are also mindful you may like your privacy and will respect your needs accordingly. Laundry facilities are available either to do yourself, or your hostess Robyn will attend to it for you. There is a small charge for this service. Ambleside is within walking distance of beautiful Tahunanui beach which is safe for swimming, the golf-course, award winning restaurants and is the closest accommodation to the internationally acclaimed WORLD OF WEARABLEART & Classic Car Museum. The airport, although we are not near the flightpath, is only a few minutes drive away. As Nelson boasts the most sunshine hours in New Zealand, an abundance of gorgeous beaches with golden sand and sheltered bays, mountains, rivers and lakes in the area, we recommend a stay of 2-3 nights to ensure you get to do and see everything including the myriad wineries, cafes, arts and crafts and adventure tourism. As your caring hosts, we endeavour to ensure your stay is made all the more memorable with our (in guests' words) "six-star service" and gracious kiwi hospitality and that whilst within our care, your Kiwi experience is of the highest standard. Nothing is ever too much trouble for our guests! One thing is certain, you may arrive as our guests, but you will most definitely leave as friends! |
