First impressions of this hotel were great. The hotel reception and bar seem updated and the food was fantastic. But there were not enough staff and those who were on shift lacked a service-ethic. Breakfast should be avoided - the food is great but the system of self service is made chaotic by a lack of staff. Tables are not cleared, there were no plates, then bowls… it was the Wild West.

Service at check in wasnt great. No help with bags. Rooms had old carpet that was not clean. Sofa beds were old and awful. Slept with a spring in my back. Asked for something to fix it. Nothing was done and i got back to the room too late to to want to do anything. Ordered room service and you have to walk down and collect the tray yourself. Then carry it upstairs by hand with no trolley. Breakfast was average. I have stayed at many hotels and this one just lacks care. Its ok if you are happy with just a room but if you want any service then this is not the place.

The Rydges Canberra was fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable and good value for money. We were travelling with another family and we both had a very comfortable stay. It was close to questacon to take the kids and close to some riverside dining options. Coffee at the bar was amazing too. We will be back and would highly recommend it.

A very comfortable room and hotel, marred by room cleanliness issues resolved after arrival and compensated for by the hotel. Food was good although no full restaurant over the New Year period. Would stay there again.

We called the property on the friday to check the booking and booked for the restaurant on our Arrival as we had 5 rh Flight. When we arrived we were told that there was no Restaurant tonight . We purchased Bar Snacks and they were dreadful . The next morning We went to the Restaurant for Breakfast and was informed it was not open . We went to the desk and they were rude We called a Cab and dined in another Restaurant ( We had 4 Rooms ) Never again as the property is tired and not well managed . We asked for another night on check in for one room and the next morning we did not want to stay ,the reception made such a big song and dance so we kept the Room but did not stay in it that night .Rydges are usually very good but definitely not this one.

Hi Steven,Thanks for the review. This is definitely not the level of customer service we pride ourselves on and I genuinely apologise this happened. In regards with the restaurant so it is always closed on sunday's and monday's and this is published on our website and also on other websites. In regards with the room so I remember this very well and I don't think saying your management on the top will ratlle if we don't do a refund was also fair. Our cancellation policy is 24 hours and on the same day we cannot cancel or refund. I also remember the guest who wanted to check out calling you and saying that she will stay an extra night so again I don't think reception made a big song and dance. I would like to thank you again for the feedback provided and hope to have an opportunity to welcome you again where we can deliver our usual seamless service which every one of our guests enjoy.
