I recently stayed at The Crest on Barkly for work and had a very disappointing experience. There was a large group booking at the hotel, which caused a lot of noise due to the poor facilities, such as a door separating two rooms. I requested to have my room relocated at 10:30 pm because of the noise, but initially, the manager denied my request. She even threatened to call the police on me because she was told I was slamming my hand on the desk, although I was only tapping my room card on the table. I was simply at the front of the line when other guests arrived after me, and she claimed I was preventing her staff from serving others.
I was then informed that I needed to wait 30-45 minutes for the manager to arrive to “sort it out,” but she still refused to change my room. I returned to my room and continued to pack my belongings, preparing to leave the hotel for the night due to the ongoing noise. When I went back to reception, the manager had not arrived yet, but they finally changed my room after all the arguments and stress.
The new room was bigger in size, but the quality was lower, especially the air conditioning. Overall, it was a very average experience and not what you want while traveling for business.
