This is by far the worst place I have stayed in NZ. I am shocked this lodge is still operating. It is dirty, unsafe, misleadingly advertised, and completely mismanaged.
Reception was closed on arrival. We had to call a number that went to a call centre, then waited a long time for a staff member to arrive. The receptionist struggled to understand English and had to call someone to translate. Basic communication was extremely difficult.
Our room had no toilet paper. When we informed staff, he did not believe us and searched the room himself before finally providing some. The room was filthy and very dusty, with loose hanging furniture posing a safety risk. One bedroom light did not work.
The linen was old, dirty, and worn. The duvet inner had no cover, cushions were frayed, and the kitchen was not cleaned—the coffee pot was left dirty on the bench. We booked for four people, but only three beds had linen. The fourth person slept on a broken couch after we were forced to request extra linen. The laundry we were shown had linen thrown on the floor.
The pool looks extremely old and was closed. The advertised kids’ playground had only two broken swings. The photos online are completely misleading and do not reflect the actual condition.Other guests were also complaining, but we had no alternative accommodation. place is a health hazard. I would never recommend it to anyone. Avoid at all cost.diasappointed
