The 2 bedroom suite worked out well for our family of four. It was nice having a washer and dryer to do some laundry during our 2 week vacation. Location was convenient, walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. Only strange thing was the heated mirror in the half bathroom, we called to ask if we could turn it off but no can do.

I was looking to book a more luxurious accommodation and I got exactly that! The facilities were impeccable- from the lobby to the room to the pool. It was definitely a home away from home! Also, there are laundry facilities IN the room, which was a lovely surprise.

We have stayed here many times this year (30+). Things historically have been good, but standards are slipping. Slow and sloppy housekeeping, inconsistent and underwhelming reception staff, poor frequent traveller recognition. Staff turnover on the reception desk is as issue… grooming standards have also taken a tumble. It feels like a change in leadership and a lack of attention to detail. We are considering staying elsewhere in 2026.

Before I make my comments, Avani Metropolus is usually exceptional. Checkunnus normally very well organised. However, we need to be honest when we provide feedback, and thus time was significantly different. Check-in was a shambles. They had lost my booking, then found it, the room was not properly cleaned. I know they can do better, and I’m sure will.

The Avani was one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed at. Having a kitchen and laundry ensuite was a game changer. Next time I’m in Auckland, I would definitely return to the Avani.
