Brisbane Markets

The Brisbane markets offer a taste of Queensland: tropical treats, laid-back locals, artistic talent and some of the best produce under the sun.

Brisbane hosts many excellent markets, popping up all over the city throughout the week. This weekend, take a tour of some of Brissie's favourite community markets to enjoy the tropical flavours and lifestyle of the Sunshine State.

The perfect Saturday

Each Saturday, the bohemian West End Markets transform a quiet river park into a colourful circus where cheerful stallholders and bands entertain the crowds. The Jan Powers Farmers Markets are more traditional markets that are held all over the city and offer a smorgasbord of fresh produce and artisan products. The shipping container bars and foodcourt of Eat Street Northshore in Hamilton have all the ingredients for a mellow night out.

A cruisy Sunday

For a wholesome start to your Sunday morning, browse the Northey Street City Farm Organic Market and source some organically grown vegetables. Then follow your nose to the Milton Markets. Most locals don't even pretend to visit these markets for their fresh groceries anymore and head straight for the food trucks. Sure, you can still grab an avo or some kale for a homemade smoothie, but who can resist the smell of spicy gozleme, fresh coffee and sweet crêpes? End your market crawl with a Suitcase Rummage on Sunday afternoon and score some second-hand clothing or retro items at bargain prices.
