Bare basics hotel, close to airport

Pros: Cheap breakfast, everything for $9
Cons: This hotel is what it is, any improvements will then increase the room price, so just leave it in the low budget zone.
Location: Nothing, industrial, airport area.
Designed on the cheap, bunk beds, plastic furniture, easy clean bathrooms, etc. Located at the back of an industrial zone. Cheap and cheerful, don't expect anything else and you'll be fine.

Budget hotel-close to the airport

Pros: Location and cleanliness and a comfy bed
Cons: Good budget hotel
Location: Very near to the airport, well located for off airport parking
Good basic facilities very clean and tidy. Vending machines with a good variety of food and drinks which is good when you have been travelling and you don't feel like ordering take away delivered which is also available from several local outlets. Staff were pleasant on arrival and departure and take pride in appearance of the place. Room was reasonably quiet considering the location. Would I stay again -yes. But if you don'twant to drag your luggage up stairs make sure you get a ground floor room as their is no lift.

Close to airport, but don't expect sleep.

Pros: Clean. Near airport.
Cons: Better signage – drove past the entrance twice before finding it. Replace A/C so that it's usable. Offer suggestions for food choices to guests.
Location: Airport.
The location (approx 10 minutes to airport terminal) is about the only thing this hotel has going for it. Staff were rude and unhelpful, there was no lift (only stairs), room was tiny (which is fine, and it was clean, so there's that), but no amenities whatsoever, and no nearby locations for food of any kind. The worst thing though was the noise. The ancient airconditioner (essential on a 35+ degrees day) was so loud it sounded like a jet engine. Turn it to fan and you swelter. Leave it on, you don't sleep. Turn it off entirely – swelter AND put up with all the hallway and nearby room noise, as well as the road traffic roaring by. I get that it's a budget hotel, but this was beyond budget. No point in getting a room at a place you can't find food near or sleep in.

Backpacker Style Accommodation.

Pros: Proximity to the airport
Cons: The rooms are very small, the bathroom has no shower hobb to limit the floor from flooding. Demolish and start again.
Location: Good location, but you are paying a high price for that privilege.
Once you have a shower, you need rubber boots for the toilet and hand basin. The bathroom floor floods.

Early morning check-in was easily organised. When we checked out later that morning, the desk staffer was friendly & helpful, but the (replacement) courtesy bus driver was less than helpful - seemed unwilling to provide us with a seat to get us to Brisbane airport in time for our flight.
