This hotel is perfectly position between Paddington & Woollahra, bus stop nearby & Edgecliff station a fair walk but not too far. We loved the boutique style property.

Old with heritage. But no fridge in the room or air conditioning. Yummy breakfast. Great and helpful staff.

Good Afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Unfortunately, we cannot see which room you had as you posted as anonymous but we assume you had the Budget Cosy Room which as you said does not have air conditioning but all our room (included the one you had) have the mini bar fridge. Some rooms have the mini bar inside the drawer which is probably the reason you did not see it. Apart from the Budget Cosy Room all our rooms comes equip with an Air con. We are happy to know you had a pleasant stay and that our team was helpful to you. We suggest for the next time to directly call our friendly staff to accommodate you in the best possible way. We hope to see you soon at the Hughenden The Management

The staff are exceptional and nothing is too much to ask. Each member of the team goes out of their way to b of assistance. The old world charm of the building suits us splendidly

the mattress was too small and you rolled into the middle and there was no support very uncomfortable hence not a very good nights sleep.

Since you made an anonymous post, I can't see which room you stayed in but we will investigate all rooms since this is the first complaint we have had since we upgraded all mattresses. Most of the mattresses are new and none of them should be uncomfortable. We will investigate! We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. I had used this hotel for its convenience to a hospital that I was being admitted to the next morning. I had paid in full and had flown interstate. Upon arriving, I did not read the conditions which required a $100 credit card holding deposit for mini bar. This holding deposit had a 3/5 day clearance which would have affected my hospital admission payment. I explained that I had to fast prior to my medical procedure and could not consume any mini bar items. I also requested to speak to the manager, to no avail. What really upset me is that I was categorically told that unless I pay with my credit card, I was not going to be allowed to stay and that I was also not going to get a refund given that my booking was non refundable. I then asked whether I could pay cash as the deposit. I was then advised that the hotel wanted $300 in cash which I also didn’t have. My room rate was less than half of this so could not understand why they wanted so much. They have a policy printed out at reception explaining their credit card requirement, but not the $300 in cash. I told reception that I would draw out $100 and if they did not accept this, then unfortunately I would have nowhere to stay. Reception told me to draw out this amount and would talk to his manager. Fortunately on my return they accepted it. I received an email the next day from the manager who stated that ‘our policies apply to every guest that checks-in with us with no exceptions’. Disappointed with lack of compassion.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are sorry to hear that our pre-authorization policy made you feel so disappointed with your stay. As per the booking policy stated on Wotif where you completed your online booking, we do require a valid credit card on arrival to complete a pre authorization deposit of AUD100 to cover any incidentals or extras during your stay. Upon check-in our front desk staff have also explained that we call it a ‘pre-authorisation’ and this amount will appear in your internet banking as a ‘pending transaction’ for 3-5 business days after checking out. Following this, it will return back into your account and will be part of your ‘available balance’. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you but every hotel has a check-in procedure and this is our procedure clearly stated in every online travel agent as well as your check-in form that you have signed. It does stand to every guest that checks-in with us.
