We’ve stayed at Meriton in other cities and always had great experiences, but this was our first time in Sydney — and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. We stayed for a late anniversary and arrived late in the evening. Check-in was easy, and we appreciated the lovely handwritten note and bottle of wine left in our room. However, things went downhill from there.
We quickly noticed several hairs in the shower and bathroom, which was quite unpleasant. In the bedroom, there were also hairs on the pillows and stains on the bed. When we reported this, the staff member at reception seemed indifferent and offered us another room on a lower level for the night, with a move back the next day once the first room was cleaned.
To our dismay, the second room had similar issues — hairs on the floor and stained sheets. We went back again, and this time were offered an upgraded room, which was better. Still, the general cleanliness and maintenance of all rooms were far below what we expected for the price. The bathrooms looked neglected, the couches were stained, the iron stained a shirt, and both the dishwasher and washing machine smelled unpleasant and seemed unserviced.
Overall, this stay left us quite disappointed and hesitant to book with Meriton again.
