    Accommodation In South Island

New Zealand’s South Island is famous for its breathtaking beauty. You’ve probably heard that a million times before but from Nelson in the North to Invercargill in the South, there’s no denying the South Island offers some of the most stunning scenery in the world. And our range of South Island hotels makes exploring this remarkable place easy.

The South Island is home to 10 national parks, and our range of Abel Tasman accommodation offers a great base to explore the smallest of them all. Here you’ll find secluded beaches and lush forests. Take some time to pinch yourself, it‘s beautiful isn’t it?

At 3754 metres, Aoraki Mount Cook is New Zealand’s highest mountain. Marvel at its size and beauty with our range of Aoraki/Mount Cook accommodation. If heights aren’t your thing, head to the Franz Josef Glacier or the Fox Glacier on the West Coast, to explore the world’s lowest-lying glaciers. For those after a slightly more laid-back experience, then check out Hanmer Springs; this alpine spa town is home to some of the country's most picturesque outdoor thermal springs. Or perhaps head east to Kaikoura hotels: once a sleepy fishing village, the area has now become a hotspot for whale watchers and dolphin lovers in New Zealand.

Whether you want to hit the slopes or just grab a Fergburger and soak up the views, our great range Queenstown hotels are ideally situated all over New Zealand’s adventure capital so you can take full advantage of everything on offer. After all that adventuring, treat yourself and head to Marlborough where you can taste the region’s famous sauvignon blanc. Feeling creative? With over 300 artists calling Nelson home and workshops on offer including glassblowing, pottery, bone carving and sculpture, Nelson hotels is the town for you. Discover your artistic side with one of our Nelson hotels.

New Zealand’s South Island isn’t all about the country side; there are also some great cities to discover. The Islands largest city is slowly rebuilding after the 2011 earthquakes, and while some of the major attractions are still closed, there’s still plenty to see and do. With one of our Christchurch hotels and accommodation you can explore this remarkable and resilient place. Meanwhile, Dunedin is home to New Zealand’s oldest university; so soak up the student culture at one of the city’s bars and cafes. Or just head straight to the source with a tour of Speights Brewery.

Want to go skiing in New Zealand? The South Island is also home to some stellar ski spots including Mt Hutt, Coronet Peak and the Remarkables. With almost too much to do, New Zealand's South Island will have you never wanting to go home. Our great range of South Island accommodation is below.

We felt very at home at Rydges Latimer. After arriving before 2pm which is check in time we were told our room was ready for us which was a bonus. Had a lovely lunch and fabulous bloody marys in their restaurant. Our room was very comfortable. Usually I find air con very drying overnight but this was perfect and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was a highlight. Loved the poached pears, the homemade beans, corn fritters... Everything was to a very high standard including the flat whites/cappucinos. Maybe the coffee could have been a touch hotter (picky). Parking is free and there was always one available. Very central location without the congestion that you get when you stay that little bit closer to the CBD. We were in a superior twin room as there were 3 of us. My husband made a joke of the "sea mist view out the window" We were in fact looking at another outside view of the hotel outside wall (white paint) All good. Too busy making the most of all there is to do in Christchurch :) to worry about that and the room window let a lot of natural light in.

"This is a beautiful hotel in a great location"
This is a beautiful hotel with great facilities, in a central location. The superior 2-bedroom apartment we stayed in was spacious with a large balcony & a beautiful view. The fireplace is a lovely addition for colder evenings. The view from the hotel is stunning! Overlooking Lake Wakatipu & The Remarkables. Heated floors in the apartment was also a nice touch. Even though we hired a car, it was so easy to use the hotel shuttle for when we had to go into town & back. And the staff were friendly & helpful.

"Lovely hotel offering great value for money"
My husband & I stayed there overnight recently at the end of a NZ holiday prior to flying home in the morning. Had booked the room on cost figuring by the end of the holiday I would have blown my budget so better economise on where we sleep so you can imagine my surprise when we opened the door to find this enormous well equipped room. Very comfortable king sized bed, separate table with armchairs, loads of storage - even a wardrobe with a full sized mirror. Good sized bathroom & fluffy robes - this room was so much better than the rate implied. Nicole on reception lovely to deal with & very helpful in organizing a shuttle to take us to the airport. Different house cleaning staff we ran into in the corridor all extremely friendly & cheerful. Hotel itself only a couple of easy blocks from great dining options & the train station. Highly recommend.
