We have been coming to PKs for a few years now. It is safe to say that the area has become a lot busier in these COVID times. Unfortunately - PKs had been closed for a spell and had just re-opened. This meant the pool wasn't finished or usable. They had also got rid of all the plants in that area - which changed the space a lot. I think they were short staffed and needed a new cook when we were there. The new cook didn't seem to be handling things very well. I am sure with time the place will become as good as it was again.

Great location, needs improvement

We stayed there 5 days. Location was beautiful. Staff was not very helpful as we have just arrived that day and were 10 minutes late for dinner, not realising the cut off time. They did not want to do anything to help us out to get something to eat, even though the kitchen staff were still there. Mattress was fairly hard, room had no basic amenities like kettle or any storage for our clothes. The owner on the other hand was great and very accommodating. Our reservation clerk on the day or arrival was great and moved us to a room where aircon worked properly. One of the staff was very helpful with information on local walks and tracks. Overall, mixed feelings about our stay. In the end we improvised and had great time. Would definitely be back to visit the area.

Pretty good as far as hostels go

Pros: The bar/restaurant was a great spot. Love the pool tables too, they were fun.
Cons: We stayed in a private room (Rm 15). Things that would have been great to have: a lamp, hooks (for towels etc.) and additional pillows.
We enjoyed our stay at PKs Jungle Village. The facilities were pretty good and clean as far as hostels go and staff were friendly. Considering that you are in the middle of the forest, the food at the restaurant was good and reasonably priced.

Shabby venue with very poor service. Overpriced. Very basic 'pub' food (poorly made burgers, fish and chips etc). Had to pay extra for wi-fi that didn't reach my room. No option to adjust air-con. Thin walls so kept awake by neighbours' kids. No chair, table or storage in room. For $150 :-(

Hello Nick, We're very sad to hear you did not enjoy your stay. We have improved our food but the menu remains the same with burgers, fish and chips, thai curry, thai soup, chili con carne, etc so theres a wide variety of traditional Australian eats with a couple Thai and TexMex options. Our food is extraordinary as we're so lucky to have 3 amazing chefs from Europe with previous experience in two hat fine-dining restaurants.Because of our location in the Daintree rainforest, we must supply our own energy so it is very costly but we are lucky to have wifi to supply to guests for a very small fee. Sadly we do not have the ability to have routers for wifi all over the premises but the wifi reaches the bistro, reception, and cabins around that area. We do have adjustable air-con as well as sturdy walls and storage room. We hope you can give us another try as we'd love to have you see how much we've improved our whole hotel from our service to our comfort. Kindly, Management

Close to the beach, great atmosphere, lovely food

We spent an enjoyable day exploring the region, walking on the beach nearby, a great place to relax and unwind

It's been 19 years since I last stayed here

Pros: Location
Cons: Every thing needs to be improved. Better bathroom, better beds something to hang clothes on. Need to improve the food at the restaurant.
Location: Location is very central to activates and beach.
It's been 19 years since I last stayed here so I know it's budget accommodation. I paid for one of there best rooms, so you would think you would get a decent bed and bathroom. The bathroom looks and feels like it has been taken out of a old caravan, the taps dripped and when they got the maintenance man in he managed to break the hot water tap on the sink. The bed was as hard as nails. There are no hooks or anything to hang clothes on, there is no tea or coffee provide. The baby in the room next door woke me up at 2:30am, then the rats in the roof woke me up at 5:30am.

Hello there, We are so sad to hear you did not enjoy your stay. I hope you give us another try as we have improved our beds to very comfortable soft beds with lovely soft sheets. We do our best to spread booked rooms away for less noise complaints, and while we do not have rats..we do have birds that sometimes land on the roof or tree branches that make loud noises depending on the wind and rain. There are hangers to hang items in our rooms and we have amazing food thats expanded to include some lovely Thai dishes cooked by highly qualified chefs from Europe with past experience in fine-dining and two hat restaurants. Kindly, Management

Dismal !!!!

Pros: The happy hour was nice, brought a few people to the bar but the early close of the bar especially when there were punters still drinking was bizarre.
Cons: Everything, bring it back to a backpacker/tourist spot rather a family site.
Location: The beach was beautiful.
This would have to be the worst experience I have encountered in my life. Treated like a 3rd class citizen from the beginning. This trip was for a 30th birthday. Told my personal alcohol wasn't permitted in my room and I had to leave it behind, on arrival no mention from either party to this rule. The room was backed on to another room which on night one had small children, whom then vacated and night two the staff put another group with small children. This was a Friday/Saturday night I add. The Friday night we were told by management we were not to make any noise at all from 10pm and on Saturday this was the case from 9pm. We were told no music was permitted in our room even though across the road some 10 meters campers were allowed music. This irked me as I have brought my own system up for the occasion which was rendered pointless. The food was embarrassing, paper thin attempted T-bone missing the T, simply became a piece of meat with a bone on the end. Ordered sauce, none arrived when questioned the waitress didn't charge for it and it would have been a 5 minute wait so no point...

Hi Stuart, We are shocked to read you review. We would love to have you come back during our peak season (May to October) and see how lively and fun this place is. We must be honest and explain if you have a budget room there is not guarantee of who will be rooming with you but we have plenty of private rooms where you can enjoy your music at a reasonable level. We also pride ourselves in our food with our amazing chefs from Europe with previous fine-dining and two hat experience. We recommend you give our curry a try or the schnitzel that seem to be staff favorites. We hope you can come back and improve our review. We look forward to the opportunity. Kindly, Management

Potentially a great place in a beautiful location

We enjoyed our stay in such a beautiful part of the world. The room was large and comfortable. The hotel facilities for cooking are poor though and not really clean. The shared bathrooms could use a good clean too. Staff was generally friendly but maybe a tad more interested in traveling then working. The restaurant and bar area is good though.
