"Excellent value for money - good central location"
I wanted a relatively low cost, comfortable room within walking distance to all areas in Cairns CBD. I tend to self cater, so having basics in the room for this was good; also 5 min walk from shopping centre. The experience catered well for my needs.

Hides Hotel Cairns

"Central Accommodation at a great price"
Initially we entered the room and my kids turned their noses up, by the end of the stay they said, this is great so close to everything. We are in Cairns often as we live remote and this is our closest hub, we have stayed at several hotels and I must say if you are looking for a good value hotel that is close to everything then this is the one. We paid $130 per night for the four of us including breakfast. Woolworths across the road and the elplanade, cairns central and restaurants a few minutes walk away. Yes it's old and basic but comfortable and clean, great aircon too!

    Why book with Wotif ?

    Accommodation In Cairns

Way up in Far North Queensland is the captivating city of Cairns. Once a rest stop for those headed to the gold fields, this place has morphed into more than a respectable holiday destination. Don’t believe us? Just take a trip out to the Great Barrier Reef.

Would you like to see and experience it all? Check out Wotif’s unbelievable Cairns hotel deals and book your dream trip as soon as you’re done reading the words below.

    Plan Your Getaway

Your flight lands at Cairns Airport (CNS), 7km from the central business district. You can get downtown easily by hailing a taxi, riding the public bus or reserving a spot on the Airport Connect shuttle. If you arrive late at night, get a room at one Wotif’s hotels near Cairns International Airport and start your adventure in the morning.

    The Hunger Games

All this travelling will make you hungry, so feed your inner beast when you get to town. Make your way to the Esplanade along the coast of Trinity Bay, where you can guzzle a fresh cup of coffee with your breakfast at a café. Or grab a toasty meat pie and smoothie from one of the snack bars. These are so good, you could probably shovel down around six of them.

If you’re looking for a finer dining experience, you don’t even need to leave the Esplanade. Get a kangaroo filet at a steakhouse, smother a juicy piece of lobster in melted butter at a seafood joint or see how hot of a curry you can handle at a traditional Indian place.

And hey, if you don’t want to go far from your room, many of the hotels in Cairns have restaurants on the premises.

    Bring the Whole Family

Are your stag getaway days over? No problem. Take the entire family to the Cairns Tropical Zoo and hang out with some of Australia’s wilder inhabitants. The kiddos will love watching a crocodile trainer toss whole chickens into the snapping jaws of the modern-day dinosaurs.

After the feeding, settle the nerves with a koala snuggle. Seriously, you and the family can take turns holding a koala. Go ahead and check the cute box.

Remember that Esplanade place we mentioned above? Well, when you’re finally able to pry the kids from the koalas’ grasp, go back and take a dip in the swimming lagoon. While the little ones are busy playing Marco Polo, lay a beach towel on the lawn and sip a cold Victoria Bitter. Can you imagine how well you’re going to sleep in your Cairns hotel after today?

    Time for an Adventure

Another day, another adventure. This time it’s at the Cairns Zoom and Wildlife Dome. What can you do here? For starters, you can climb to the top of the dome and take in a view of the city only seagulls get. Next, fly through the air on the Hi-Zoom zip-line course that also features footbridge crossings.

Oh, by the way, the ride will take you directly over the enclosure of a crocodile named Goliath. Do we really have to explain why his name is Goliath? We didn’t think so.

Don’t head back to your Cairns accommodation just yet. You haven’t even seen the Great Barrier Reef! Hop on a boat at the marina for a quick day trip to the world’s largest coral reef system. Sea turtles, dolphins, clown fish (Nemo), sharks (Bruce), rays and sea snakes…you name it, this place has it. Except beluga whales. There aren’t any of those there.

    Old Enough to Party

Do you know what time it is? That’s right, it’s time to party. Put on your best fiesta hat and check out the fine watering holes along Grafton Street. The accommodation near Cairns Convention Centre is also near Grafton, so you’ll be close to all the fun. You’ll find everything from seedy, dimly-lit pubs serving 2-for-1 drinks to swanky bars offering the finest craft cocktails and all night dance clubs.

When you’re done zig-zagging your way down through the nightlife, belly up to the bar at your accommodation in Cairns and end the evening with a nightcap.

    It’s the Festival Life

Book a stay at one of our Cairns hotels during the end of August so you can enjoy the extravaganza of Cairns Festival. This thing will keep you entertained for hours. We’re talking street performers, live music from local acts and a variety of workshops. But the biggest spectacle of the entire event is the Grand Parade, which features fire dancers and marching bands along the Esplanade.

Man, that Esplanade. Everything seems to happen here!

    Goodbye Home

If you looked for the best Cairns travel guide, this one would be at the top of the list. We’d even bet you an all-expenses-paid trip on it.

Just kidding. We won’t go that far. But we will go as far as telling you to browse our Cairns holiday packages and book one immediately. Tell your boss to expect a postcard from somewhere far from your office.
