"Central Accommodation at a great price"
Initially we entered the room and my kids turned their noses up, by the end of the stay they said, this is great so close to everything. We are in Cairns often as we live remote and this is our closest hub, we have stayed at several hotels and I must say if you are looking for a good value hotel that is close to everything then this is the one. We paid $130 per night for the four of us including breakfast. Woolworths across the road and the elplanade, cairns central and restaurants a few minutes walk away. Yes it's old and basic but comfortable and clean, great aircon too!

"Cracking Cairns!"
Lovely hotel situated within 2 minutes walk of the central area and beach. The RSL club is very near and we signed in as guests (they welcome any guest/visitor) and the food was brilliant and in budget for us and as in the hotel everyone was really friendly. Cairns is a must, we did the Reef and the Kuranda train and there is so much more if you have time. The Hotel Cairns has all the info and you can book a tour while swimming in the pool almost. This hotel may be in its Autumnal years but it is clean, welcoming, cool, and in budget with character as well. Well done.

"Probably a bit overpriced."
The hotel was close to the city but down the quiet end near the quay. From the internet we believed this was quite good and the price recommended about a 3.5 - 4 star hotel. In reality, the foyer and entrance was disappointing. We found the desk staff to be a bit dour and struggled to get them to smile even on a pleasant "good morning". Also, they were quite unknowledgable on what was going on in the city even on New Years Eve. There was one exception and that was Margaret who was quite cheerful and exceptionally knowledgable. The rooms were clean and tidy and the housekeeping staff were quite good and friendly. The outlook from the building however was limited by surrounding high rise buildings. As this was a private apartment rental hotel we found that the average per night rate it was a little on the expensive side. Also, housekeeping was unavailable on two of the seven days we were there because of public holidays. I recently payed this price for a larger and more plush room at Chifleys at Penrith in a much more up market full service hotel. The only option for breakfast was a breakfast pack which was reminiscent of an Ibis Budget hotel. Although when we asked about meals we were told that in-room service was available from an outsourced supplier, we did not try this option.

"Close by beach and town"
Checked in on Australia Day and was not aware that reception would be closed. A bit troublesome to get the key to the room. No one is around to answer should there be further queries. Price is economical though.

"Convenient location - walk to Esplanade & cafes"
Overall quite nice and good value for money but our room was definitely due for a refurbishment. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the bathroom fittings are a bit worn. But it was very clean and the pools and gardens etc were great.
