We were given a free glass of sparkling wine at the cellar door. It was nice and timely as it was our anniversary vacation. We were pleasantly surprised that our room (deluxe with terrace) was quiet during our stay (Thu & Fri nights). It was probably partly because the Colony refuses certain bookings for the purpose of group events or parties and partly because the Colony is in a separate area on the estate. Our room was spacious, modern and clean. The mini bar seem to be pretty well stocked. The bath tub seems a bit small. It may also be a good idea to provide bath salt or bath bomb at cost. I bumped my head 3 times against the tiny black thing on the wall above my pillow while watching TV. As I did not consume any alcohol, I think it was a combined result of its unfortunate location as well as me letting my guard down. We visited both restaurants (breakfast and dinner at Homestead Brewery - great) and 6 course degustation at Wild Swan. We would visit again.

We do also place a lovely guest amenity which is a packet of bath salts by Appelles into each of our (4) rooms that come with a bath tub. All the best

Unfortunately we are not always able to confirm an early check-in or late check-out in advance, as it will depend upon the availability of rooms on your arrival/departure date. Our standard check-in time is indeed 3:00pm and check-out time is 10:00am, outside of these times you may certainly plan to arrive early, register and make use of our estate facilities, have a tipple at the cellar door and store your luggage with us at reception until such time as your room is ready. We will note this request on your reservation, and do our utmost to accommodate your early arrival/late departure request as best as we can. Upon your arrival, we can also look to provide a complimentary late check-out up to 10:30am. If you would like to secure an early check-in or later check-out, we can offer the below guaranteed times (fees apply): Early Check-in: • 2:00pm for an additional $50; or • 1:00pm for an additional $75 Late Check-out: • 11:00am for an additional $50; or • 12:00pm for an additional $75 A guaranteed early check-in/late check-out does need to be booked in advance as occupancies are ever-changing, and these times are subject to availability.

The rooms are not designed well for privacy. You can hear the neighbours talking and the doors can be heard slamming when people use. The room itself was not very clean.

Our sincere apologies for the excessive noise experienced on your most recent stay with us. Such disturbances from adjacent rooms are certainly not typical of the guest experience here at Mandoon, but we have taken your comments on board and will seek to rectify. Pleasingly, we have now finished our routine spring clean of all 32 guest rooms, and they are looking better than ever with regards to presentation and cleanliness!

The room was a basic motel room completely filled by a bed and not enough available space to do much else. There is a writing desk with one chair and when the chair is occupied a second person would need to climb over the bed to get to the other side of the room. The room contained a disabled bathroom but the room itself would not be suitable for an independent person who requires a wheelchair. The room is a poor design. The room is your basic overnight stay. It was clean to a very high standard, though. Breakfast was a little disappointing. If you have the full breakfast be aware that only the eggs and the toast are freshly cooked. The rest of the food items have been pre-cooked and left in a warmer until required. The bacon hard and oily. The baked beans a very small portion and dry. The hash brown hard exterior and oily. The mushroom tasteless. Considering the relatively small number of people attending breakfast, it is surprising that all food is not freshly cooked when ordered.

Our room was not cleaned to a standard of which the facility stated. The accommodation is supposed to be luxury, however between the filthy couch, dirty floors and walls, patchy wals and flaking paint I don't feel this constitutes luxury or the value for money. The scenery was delightful though.
