Very tired and worn out property. $20 surcharge a night to jusy have a little fridge in your room. Very basic, very tired. Staff were not at all pleasant or helpful to deal with.

Hotel is extremely bad, it’s actually the worst hotel I’ve EVER stayed in, it smells bad, air conditioner made us sick, terrible bathroom, kept on running out of toilet paper. Staff are nice, but the hotel is extremely run down, I’m sorry, but I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone and I worked and managed hotels for 12yrs in Australia

Great value for money and easily accessible from Civic Centre train station if arriving from the airport. The main shopping strip is an easy 10 minutes walk away but with buses & trams on your door step, it's very easy to discover this great city. If you like heritage buildings, then this hotel would be a joy to see. It's very well maintained and plumbing is not an issue. Highly enjoyed the windows that actually open for fresh air. Power points & electrical works require an upgrade though.

So so, not value for money.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Furniture, decor in general spaces, new carpet, more lighting (brighter), USB charging, digital TV (more channels).
Location: Location is ok from downtown however the homeless presence nearby is distressing and feels unsafe particularly at night.
The hotel is very old. The foyer and lift spaces lack lighting so it doesn't feel inviting. Generally the carpet and door hardware, bathroom fittings, shelving, toilets etc appear like originals but not very charming. There's no USB charging and the wifi is not very secured. Customer service is a little lack-luster at times but never rude. The worst is the aircon unit which is old, loud and intrusive.
