"Great spot to take the kids"
Overall the place is great, rooms are getting renovated as were looking tired, lots of things to do for the kids and the location is central. Some of the staff didn't appear to be enjoying their job and appeared to be a chore to serve customers.

    History

Surfers Paradise, or ‘Surfers’ as the locals call it, started with one man and his hotel. In 1922, Jim Cavill purchased 10 hectares of land in an area then called Elston and built The Surfers Paradise Hotel on it. In 1933, Cavill lobbied to have the town’s name changed from Elston to Surfers Paradise. The flux of tourists in the 1950s resulted in the first high-rise apartment blocks, and the 60s and 70s saw the town become well-known for surf culture and partying. In the 2000s, a slew of new nightclubs and businesses joined Surfers Paradise and strengthened the town’s standing as a mega-popular tourist destination.

    Things to do

Surfers Paradise really does have activities for the whole family. The beach is part of the Gold Coast’s 52 km of coastline, and it’s surrounded by gleaming buildings that tower into the blue sky. Go surfing, or take a lesson if you’re new to it, or go for a swim or long walk. Just behind the beach is Cavill Avenue, the main street of Surfers Paradise, and you‘ll probably recognise the large ‘Surfer’s Paradise’ sign that stands at the beach’s entrance. On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, head down to the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets to browse over 100 markets stalls for bargains.

If you feel like hitting the town, Surfers has plenty of nightclubs with bright lights and pounding beats, as well as stylish cocktail bars, live bands and DJs. No matter what kind of night you’re after, Surfers can provide.

You’ll also find some one-of-a-kind attractions: Infinity is a journey into a futuristic maze filled with enchanting ‘worlds’, Ripley’s Believe It or Not has baffling illusions and sights, and Dracula’s Haunted House is a five-storey haunted funhouse.

You’re also not too far from theme parks like Dreamworld and Warner Bros. Movie World, as well as Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Shopping and dining

Like everything else in Surfers Paradise, the dining offers plenty of choice: upmarket seafood in a sophisticated setting, cuisine from all around the world, beachside cafes with al fresco tables so you can wake up with a strong coffee and seaside views. Shopping centres like Chevron Renaissance and Centro Surfers Paradise (which also has a TimeZone) are good places to shop. But if you really want variety, catch a bus to Broadbeach and visit Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, a five-floor shopping complex with more than 300 stores.
