"Cheap and cheerful in the heart of everything"
This was a last minute booking, quite cheap but never the less good value. Room was a bit tired , had to pay for parking, which was in the fine print on Wotif , not impressed paying $15 to park in the shopping centre car park. Staff very good ,so overall pretty good

"NIce hotel. Close to everything."
Hotel staff was very helpful and well behaved. On a flip side, I requested for waiver of parking fees but didn't get. While my friend got the same in another hotel of a similar stature. I think that could be a big criteria for my decision for booking next time specially for booking for a long stay.

"Good location"
Booked a two bedroom apartment but when arrived, saw that the second bedroom was in a totally different room with its own key card door which is not suitable for families with younger kids. My husband ended up staying in the other separate bedroom and I had our son with me in our room. Room furniture needs to be replaced as many chairs were ripped. Kitchenette was very average with barely any utensils and peeling on the surface. Location was okay with a five minute walk to the beach and a 10-15 min walk to Surfers restaurants area. Pool area was lovely and big and it was nice to have free wi fi which is rare in apartments. Staff were friendly. Would only give it an average three star rating based on the rooms we were given.

"Unique but a tad expensive."
Only one night stay but pleasant enough. Restaurant good, liked the buffet style but a bit pricey. Bed way too soft and room small for what you pay.

"Beautifully renovated with awesome beach views."
Older building, recently renovated. Clean & fresh with awesome beach views. Staff were very helpful. I would highly recommend staying here for those on a budget. Only negative was that we found the bed & lounge a little uncomfortable.

    History

Surfers Paradise, or ‘Surfers’ as the locals call it, started with one man and his hotel. In 1922, Jim Cavill purchased 10 hectares of land in an area then called Elston and built The Surfers Paradise Hotel on it. In 1933, Cavill lobbied to have the town’s name changed from Elston to Surfers Paradise. The flux of tourists in the 1950s resulted in the first high-rise apartment blocks, and the 60s and 70s saw the town become well-known for surf culture and partying. In the 2000s, a slew of new nightclubs and businesses joined Surfers Paradise and strengthened the town’s standing as a mega-popular tourist destination.

    Things to do

Surfers Paradise really does have activities for the whole family. The beach is part of the Gold Coast’s 52 km of coastline, and it’s surrounded by gleaming buildings that tower into the blue sky. Go surfing, or take a lesson if you’re new to it, or go for a swim or long walk. Just behind the beach is Cavill Avenue, the main street of Surfers Paradise, and you‘ll probably recognise the large ‘Surfer’s Paradise’ sign that stands at the beach’s entrance. On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, head down to the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets to browse over 100 markets stalls for bargains.

If you feel like hitting the town, Surfers has plenty of nightclubs with bright lights and pounding beats, as well as stylish cocktail bars, live bands and DJs. No matter what kind of night you’re after, Surfers can provide.

You’ll also find some one-of-a-kind attractions: Infinity is a journey into a futuristic maze filled with enchanting ‘worlds’, Ripley’s Believe It or Not has baffling illusions and sights, and Dracula’s Haunted House is a five-storey haunted funhouse.

You’re also not too far from theme parks like Dreamworld and Warner Bros. Movie World, as well as Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Shopping and dining

Like everything else in Surfers Paradise, the dining offers plenty of choice: upmarket seafood in a sophisticated setting, cuisine from all around the world, beachside cafes with al fresco tables so you can wake up with a strong coffee and seaside views. Shopping centres like Chevron Renaissance and Centro Surfers Paradise (which also has a TimeZone) are good places to shop. But if you really want variety, catch a bus to Broadbeach and visit Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, a five-floor shopping complex with more than 300 stores.
