Room was very small. Bathroom too small to even bend over. No minifridge, no view, no heat. No breakfast, only coffee. Questionable fire escape plan. Low price. One block from hop on, hop off bus stop, $17 Uber ride to Wharf. Good restaurants nearby.

Broken drain and rude service

Immediately after checking in I want to wash my hands and found the drain pipe under the sink disconnected. There are no phones in the room so I had to go back down to the front desk. Edward was not empathetic or proactive with solutions. I had to suggest moving us to another room while they fixed it. We had to move our stuff down several floors to a handicap accessible room for a night. This room had signs of wear and the floors were not very clean. I complained about this whole process was making us late for our dinner reservations and ruining a celebration weekend. Edward was adamant it wasn’t their fault and all they could do was give us the other room. I explained anyone that cleaned the sink properly recently would have noticed the pipe, the accessible room was not what I paid for and the lack of responsibility and accountability is very upsetting. I had better luck with staff the following day who actually moved our stuff back when the room was fixed. However, we dreaded seeing Edward every time we came back because he was rude to me and my wife. I’m from San Francisco and was not expecting a new modern hotel but I was expecting good service and the room I reserved. Beware that the price does not reflect the value here.

Not the cleanest or friendliest staff. I had an incident in which someone entered my room when I left for a few hours. I had a “do not disturb” sign on. They (staff) left a note saying I’d be fined $250 if I were smoking. I was not smoking. I’m a solo female traveler and for this hotel staff to enter my room when I’m out for a few hours with a do not disturb sign on is absolutely ridiculous and so uncomfortable. Mind you they didn’t clean or make the bed. They entered for non housekeeping reasoning. I called the front desk in regard to this note and they claimed there were cigarette butts in the room. The front desk was absolutely so rude about this situation when I called about the note. The manager did reach out via email and he seemed much more pleasant than the staff there. Entering a guest’s room during their stay with a do not disturb sign on is so wrong. I do not recommend this place as it’s not safe due to these reasons.

Nice weekend in Union Square

Stayed in Union square for the Chinese New Year parade. Excellent location, list of food nearby. Boutique hotel with small but comfortable room and comfortable bed. Very nice staff. Would stay again.
