Only spent one night here, stayed before but in a group booking. Hotel is adequate for a one night stay, however I was not impressed with the reception staff. No pleasantries at all. It felt more like entering border control at the airport rather than a paying guest at a hotel.

The hotel is under renovation and so they have just three working elevators. The lines are very long to use an elevator making guests very angry. The management should limit the number of guests until all renovations are completed,

Staff courteous and helpful. Room needed to be changed as it had not been fully serviced after previous guest. All good. Bathroom was very small in the twin room we had. This was one of the refurbished rooms too. No-where to leave toiletry bags in the bathroom. Not enough shelf space. Think this needs re-assessing.

My single room was so small I had to enter sideways to avoid hitting furniture. The bed was a metal frame with a mattress which slid around. I stubbed my toe on the metal legs a couple of times. There was no mirror in the room. The room was freezing but the heater was so noisy I couldn't sleep with it on. I bought a drink in the bar on returning from a theatre trip but was told I was not allowed to take it to my room, never known this in any hotel before. Breakfast was like a canteen, very busy and my table was cleared fully every time I returned to the buffet, even taking away a full mug of coffee and clean cutlery. Pastries were stale. There are definitely better places to stay in London for the money.

Have stayed here years ago and it now seems more like a hostel instead of a hotel. Rooms dated, basic and very uncomfortable beds, and linen doesn’t fit the beds, sheet didnt cover the mattress. Bathroom basic and functional but some hooks to hang towels and clothes would be useful. Location is great and convenient with good transport options but rooms are also noisy due to location.

Can’t fault the room or the staff but the breakfast was appalling. The bacon was so crispy you couldn’t eat it. The hash browns just soggy with fat. The poached eggs were black and like rubber bullets. Yoghurt run out and nobody filling up. I have been to St Giles many times and always thought the breakfast was excellent, unfortunately not this time

It was good value. But one needs to keep in mind the differences between North American hotel room space and prime London location value hotel space. The room was...cozy. Good enough for a short stay for one person. Also, note, the hotel does not have a gym.

My room was generally clean, but it was clear that during the renovations, there was a lot of paint from the walls, splashed on the floors. Not sure why they haven't cleaned the paint off the floor. It makes the floors look dirty. The staff were all very friendly. It's always appreciated. I didn't use the hotel bar on this trip. This was my 4th time staying at the hotel, and the first time I feel as though I could enjoy my stay. It was also nice to be in one of the renovated rooms.
