Avoid if you want to sleep.

Where to start. Not the first time we’ve stayed but definitely the worst. The pillows are terrible and as thin as a slice of bread. The 1 extra pillow they supplied was dirty and grim. The hotel is SO noisy due to the bare concrete floors so you hear everything from every floor all night long. The aircon unit has 3 flashing LED lights that you cannot turn off which is super infuriating. All in all don’t expect any sleep. The staff member on duty was very nice though.

Not quite as good as The Travelodge.

Positive things first. We were allowed to check in just before the 3pm official check in. The Wifi is free and good enough for me to stream a live sporting event with zero buffering. The negatives were a check out time 1 hour earlier than the Travelodge in the same building. Just two pillows in a double room, that are about 1/3rd of the thickness of a Travelodge pillow, more pillows are available from reception and even though tea and coffee is available at reception, it's not the same as having it in your room. The other thing I prefer about the Travelodge is having stairs you can use, if you prefer. Overall Kip offered us a bed for the night in a convenient location at a competitive price but if the Travelodge was the same price or lower, I would choose The Travelodge.

First of all, the pictures shown here are extremely misleading most rooms look nothing like that in reality. The beds were disgustingly dirty. I went to the reception and politely asked if our room could be cleaned properly. When we came back, nothing had changed still the same bed, same filthy sheets. I approached the front desk again, but the lady there interrupted me, showed no interest in my complaint, and spent most of the time chatting on her phone. She eventually gave us a different room but even there, the bed was still stained and gross. I ended up removing the bedsheet myself. I refuse to sleep on what looked like dried urine stains, clearly from unchanged sheets. I also contacted Expedia about the situation and they tried to reach the hotel, but got no response. So I couldn’t even get a refund to book somewhere else. This hotel is an absolute joke. If you do stay here, I highly recommend you to check the bedsheets immediately.

Unfriendly welcome

I stayed here before and got checked-in by the same member of staff as last time (check in around 7-8pm on the night of 16 April). She was glued to her phone the whole time, smiling, barely acknowledging me. No eye contact and hardly any words came out of her mouth and it really felt like I was bothering her. It's not the first time I have experienced this clear lack of professionalism from this individual and I don't think her demeanour is acceptable in a customer facing role. Conversely, the lady on reception when I checked out the next morning was very friendly.

Pleasant stay with some improvement needed

Some of the features leave much to be desired. Examples of this include, the flusher for the toilet being broken, the air-conditioning not operating after a powercut and while the rooms are pleasant they could use a rug for the floors as they are quite cold in the morning and if you don’t bring slippers this can be a bit jarring. The staff were friendly and accomodating even offering me a room change during the late night powercut. Despite the easy fixes I would stay here again as it was convient for me in regards to travelling into central London. The overground station is right nextdoor. Other than some late night characters and the sound of the trains I found it relatively easy to sleep.

Ok for one night. Clean and modern

I wanted somewhere cheap to stay one night in Hackney and this seemed to fit the bill. Check in was simple and I found my room easily enough. There were no windows and little more than a small double bed and a good sized bathroom with a shower. Everything was very clean and smart. The TV kept freezing on HD channels, but seemed on ok on regular. I watched an episode of something on Netflix via the WiFi, so that seemed to work well. The room was very stuffy, though and even putting the Aircon on didn't seem to help much, so I had a fitful night's sleep which is unusual for me. In the morning, the shower was powerful and hot, which was good and checkout was simple (I think you can just drop your keycard in a box at the exit). Ok for one night, but I wouldn't want to stay longer.

Great for those needing somewhere to rest your head, room was clean and felt modern. My only downside was the pillows were very thin and not most comfortable. the AC/Heating made a noise whilst on so had to turn off Overall would stay here again

Room for improvement...

Staff on Reception not particularly friendly - as few words as possible / none if it did not require an answer (I said thank you and good night after check-in and the lady went straight back onto her phone without saying anything back) AC was not working and having stayed in this hotel a few times now, hot bedrooms is a recurring problem (I was lucky enough to have an AC remote control in my room this time but it kept turning itself off after 10sec (I stayed in the same room last year and it was already an issue I'd reported then). The general condition with more and more marks on the bedroom walls is getting worse and worse and a quick refresh in the coming months wouldn't hurt
