Nice hotel. Atrocious elevators

Overall, the hotel was fine. The staff in the VQ Restaurant were great, especially Doina who deserves special mention. The elevators, of which there were only four and were small to begin with were a nightmare for the five days we were at the hotel. At any given time, at least two of them would be malfunctioning. The hotel seems to deal quite a lot with tours and big groups of tourists who have a lot of luggage. At the best of times, four small elevators aren’t enough. Having two or three malfunctioning is unacceptable. Our hotel room was on the seventh floor and the stairway that we had to use was dirty and narrow and steep and dangerous and we should never have had to use it at all. I have heart failure and arthritis and climbing 10 flights of stairs to get to the 7th floor was a legitimate health hazard There were literally times that we felt trapped in our room because we couldn’t be sure that if we left we’d be able to get back. Also, there was a window in our room which would not shut which meant that all night we could hear sounds from the streets coming in to the room, as well as the wind blowing in all night every night. The cleaning staff were nice.

The place looks a bit tired. While some rooms, including ours, have been recently refurbished, the lobby and lifts need an overhaul. The lifts themselves cannot cope with the number of guests and we had to build lift waiting time into our plans if you wanted to meet people at a specific time downstairs. It could be up to five minutes standing there each time; there was no "popping back up to the room".

Staff are friendly. The property smells and you can never get a lift, they are either slow or full. Rooms are what you pay for and staff cleans daily. I likely wouldn’t stay here again

Ideal location for the dominion theatre

First room absolutely stunk of cheesy feet and damp. Carpet was wet. Got moved next door which was better. Room was very basic and that was a new upgraded room. Being on the 10th floor the room we had had something on the roof above us as outside our window there was loud banging and metal moving. There were high winds so whatever it was went on all night. Really loud even with the windows closed. Then someone kept calling the phone in the room gone midnight. So that was unplugged!!!!! Great location for the Dominion theatre. I would stay again if I was ever doing that theatre again. Just certainly not the two rooms we had.

Will never stay there again

Weird cleaning staff. I’m 100% sure the bathroom mirror was two way. All my devices were hacked either from the poorly secure wifi or the usb sockets, luckily I noticed in time and removed them from my Google account. Someone also kept attempting the enter my room shaking the handle (room 522) there were also who fire alarms, one with a red flashing light that chat GBT informed me was highly possible of being a secret recording device.
