Decent Last Minute Hotel

The hotel was booked last minute after we had to change hotels when our trip plans changed. We were there for 6 nights. The room was spacious and had plenty of room for two twin beds. PROS: Extremely close to restaurants stores, pubs, tube station and bus stops. It was very walkable. The breakfast buffet is decent. CONS: the bathtub/shower combo has a very tall entry, making it difficult to get in & out; the beds are firm and take some getting used to. Woke up a bit stiff every morning. Sometimes a lot of homeless hanging out around outside of hotel. Probably would look at other options in the future.

Nice, does the job, need small updates

I booked a King room. It wasn't very big, but it didn't need to be for just the one night. My suitcase was only small, so it fit on the luggage rack perfectly. It was comfortable and clean. The fridge was appreciated! It wasn't a very warm day, but the room was a good temperature without needing to put any heating on! In general, the room could do with a little update (a few stains in the carpet, no sockets by the bed, no bedside lamp, and the windows need repainting). But it did the job. If i was staying longer than one night, those things might have been annoying. The door needs a proper lock from the inside. As a solo female traveller, that would've made me a LOT more comfortable. I definitely had my suitcase against the door while I slept (not because i didn't feel safe, just as a precaution). My room was a good distance from reception (down a corridor, across a little bridge, and down another corridor), so feeling that little bit more secure in the room would've been nice. I didn't check in until just before midnight, but the two staff members I briefly interacted with at check in and check out were nice and friendly.

Good value but very noisey

Ok room for the price which was good value. But so noisey all night. I was asked if I wanted a room facing the street or a “quiet” room at the back. I went for quiet but seems these rooms backed onto an alley which had people coming and going all night and bins being moved etc. Had to have the windows open as the air con unit they had in the room was very old and kept switching off every ten mins only to restart very loudly after. Not a good nights sleep.

Coffee machine didn’t work; reported but not fixed. Curtain did not work reported and fixed. Lack of coffee, only one blend for three people, no body lotion in sink. Air con was so noisy we couldn’t leave it on.. worn stained carpets.

Shabby

Hotel room was very shabby. The bathroom smelt of sewage and the room walls were all marked and chipped. Shower door was broken. The bed was very uncomfortable, Aircon very loud and not that effective. Room was street facing and quite well protected against sound, but was woken up at 5:30 by the massive McDonald's delivery lorry that spent an hour nosily unloading. I was really excited to stay in a nice hotel for the evening but I couldnt really get comfortable or relax, travelodge would have been better.
