Terrible experience the hotel is dated and smelly The elevator wasn’t working and no one offered to help with the luggage to carry upstairs on a long narrow steps not considering our age. Didn’t inform us or give any information on where we go for breakfast or if there is any brochures for excursions. The reception is in a different building. Basically we were on our own. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. This hotel has good reviews but be ware this hotel is listed under different name with terrible reviews. Way overpriced

The bed mattress needed to be replaced as the springs stuck into my back. Also they confiscated our clothes line for washing sock and underwear. Apparently it breached some silly law they have.

We did have to ask for housekeeping service once when ..they evidently forgot. But reception immediately called and remedied it. Electric tea kettle malfunctioned…overheated and failed to turn off but they replaced it immediately when we told them. I asked for a fresh water bottle in the room each day (we stayed 4 nights), but they said they only provide that on first day, which seemed odd. The mattress was extremely firm…think “floor with a rug”.

Contrary to some reviews we found the Merit Kensington to be absolutely fine. I have no negative feedback at all. The rooms were clean and tea/coffee and toiletries replenished every day. All the staff were very friendly from housekeeping to reception and the breakfast room . Breakfast was excellent.The hotel is very close to Earls Courttube and it’s very easy to get around fro m there . The £100 security deposit was never actually taken from my bank,it was just pending all week and was cancelled on Friday as soon as we checked out. Would definitely recommend and stay again

My room was not huge. The price was not huge!!! But it, and the hallways, etc, had been recently given what must have been nearly a complete rebuild. Fixtures, fittings, etc, modern and good. "Smart" lighting out smarted me a bit, but was very nice, if not quite able to understand what I wanted. It "worked" perfectly ADEQUATELY though. Not a lot of frills, but a nice waiting area near reception for meeting friends. 24 hour front desk. I'd stay again. Didn't eat in, but would expect it was nice. Suspect, but forgot to look, that there's a nice garden out back to relax in.

The shower faucet was broken and the shower glass seal had come away, meaning every time we ran a shower the floor would flood and we’d have to hold the faucet in place. Very tight squeeze with not a lot of space between the bed and the walls. Other than that, great location (right next to Tube Line) & staff were awesome!

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was excellent, particularly the 2 gentlemen who were at reception when we arrived. My only complaint is that the breakfast was quite poor quality, and the hot foods were not fresh at all.
