On my last day, the hotel slipped a form under my door saying that I needed to provide a credit card for extra charges. When I went to the front desk to ask what the charges were for, the manager said I had bought something. He was very supercilious when I told him I didn't think I had bought anything. He said "you don't THINK so, or you you KNOW you didn't?" I couldn't think of anything I had bought, so I asked to see exactly what the extra charges were for, whereupon he informed me that it was £8 for a beer. I said that I had not bought a beer. Instead of apologizing, he abruptly ordered the desk clerk to cancel the charges and turned away. I found his attitude rude and patronizing. Why not tell the customer at the outset, what the extra charges were for? Why did I have to ask? Not a very professional way to do business.
