Disappointing

Pros: Location was good
Cons: Rooms were a little run down. Strange smell in lobby and throughout the 1st floor
Called staff to report air conditioning wasn’t working 4 times in 3 days. Said it would be addressed.everytime but never was. Made the stay unpleasant, spoilt the trip

I dont often give bad reviews but here goes, I booked an executive king room, We arrived about 1 1/2 early went to check in, were checked in but told to go away, maybe to bar and come back around 3pm, now we have stayed in many club rooms and the usual is to be directed to club lounge for check in and relax with a drink of some sort until room is ready. Room comfortable but not many amenities ie robes, slippers mini bar, did have a fridge which i had to cover over every night as it had a glass front and lit the room up at night like piccadilly circus. Club lounge for evening tapas and drinks, what a joke, celery, carrot and cucumber sticks, stale biscuits and pita pieces, sweaty cheese and a few dips, wine and an unknown beer, needless to say there was only a handfull of people there both nights, we were there for 3 nights but didn't bother going in ourselves on the last night. As for the breakfasts well, if you like cold "hot breakfasts" this is the place for you, there wasnt much else really worth talking about. All in all we didn't really enjoy our stay at The Cumberland, my advice to management if they read this, is send your people out to a real 4 star hotel with real club amenities and get them to transfer their learnings to this hotel.
