Historical hotel, professionally run with highly couteous, friendly, and well-trained staff.
Room was bright with just enough space. Renovations doe in keeping with the character of the hotel. Room clean, but not brand new or sterile. (If you’ve renovated an historical property, you know what I mean.)
Drinkable coffee in the room (uncommon in my travels) and artsy coffee downstairs. Lots of nearby dining options; 7/11 and Walgreens on the same block. Try Sutter Street Cafe for excellent coffee and sandwiches in a warm, peaceful atmosphere.
Convenient to BART and other public transit. Easy walk to and from Union Square and FiDi. (Not too far up Nob Hill.) Powell Street cable car at the end of the block.
Did I say the staff was friendly and well trained? Would repeat.
