I’m writing to formally express my deep concern and dissatisfaction following a terrifying and unacceptable experience during my recent stay booked through your platform at the London Inn at Oakland from July 26 to July 27, 2025. Shortly after checking in with my aunt and mother, we were immediately approached by suspicious individuals who aggressively knocked on our door and appeared to attempt to enter our room. Fearing for our safety, we attempted to leave the premises, only to find these same individuals blocking the exit and appearing to brandish weapons. We urgently contacted the front desk for assistance, hoping for some sort of support or escort to safety, but the staff member on duty was completely unhelpful and unresponsive to our situation. Left with no other option, we had to call family members to come and physically escort us out of the hotel. This was not only a frightening experience, but also a serious safety issue. We attempted to resolve this matter directly with the hotel and request a refund, but they refused to cooperate. Given the severity of this incident and the clear neglect of duty by the hotel staff, I am requesting a full refund for our stay, along with a formal acknowledgment of this complaint. I trust Expedia takes the safety and well-being of its customers seriously and will escalate this matter accordingly. I can provide further details if needed. Please let me know how to proceed. Where to begin? I actually stayed at this hotel 15 years ago and swore I would never do it again. Due to the recent closures of two other hotels in the immediate Jack London Square area, this is the only the only one left. I decided to give it another shot out of convenience and I heard the hotel was spruced up a bit. The only improvement I could see was a newer coat of paint. Soon as I walked into the room I could hear the toilet running and after every flush I took the top off the tank to stop it from running non stop. Someone left a dog in a room down the hall unattended so there was a constant barking for about an hour straight. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is definitely not the place. The room was also supposed to include a microwave which was missing. Long story short, a dented up microwave was left at the front desk that I ended up carrying up to the 3rd floor myself! All this being said, the worst part of my experience was by far the customer service. From time I walked in the door, the poor attitude of the desk clerk Savanna. I would not wish dealing with her on my worst enemy. I came down to the desk one morning to find or inquire about the continental breakfast and Savanna rudely had the nerve to say "It's not on this floor sir, it's the second floor". Then she proceeded to sigh and smirk like some child as I walked away. I guess trying to get hotel information while she was flirting did not agree with her. Worst company representative ever!

Great location, clean lobby and rooms with very comfy beds. Onsite parking. The hallways could use some TLC, and not the fault of the hotel, but the train noise from the rail line that runs through Jack London Square goes on all night, so bring your nighttime earplugs. Lots of restaurants in a mixed area. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

I have no idea how this hotel has received ratings like 8/10 or even 10/10. Our experience was terrible from the moment we walked in. First of all, the rooms look nothing like the pictures on Expedia. The photos are completely misleading and do not reflect the condition or quality of the actual accommodations. When we went to check in, we were immediately told that the air-conditioning and heating weren’t working in our room. We asked if we could get a discount since these are basic necessities, and the front desk staff initially told us yes. She went to speak with someone in the back (we assume the manager), and when she returned, she said they would not honor the discount after all. Then, a different employee came to relieve her and told us flat-out that if we weren’t happy with the accommodations, we could cancel our reservation and find another hotel. At that point, it was too late and unrealistic to find somewhere else to stay, so we were stuck. To make things worse, the TV didn’t work either, and there was no iron or ironing board in the room, even though it clearly states in their listing that these are provided. Despite booking a room with two queen beds, they only gave us one set of towels—no extras, no consideration for how many guests were in the room. This place is extremely poorly managed and the staff clearly doesn’t care about guest experience. I’ve attached pictures so others can see the reality. Do not waste your time or money here—stay somewhere else.

Horrible place and customer service

The place looks nothing like the pictures on the we. Site. Our room did not have Ari conditioner nor heat. Manager would not work with us and did not give us a discount, he gave us a king size room which was horrible, breakfast was so horrible and the people at the front desk had no manners. The only kind people were the cleaners. Manager told us to cancel our reservation, We made plans ahead for this trip and was too late to book another hotel. On their site it did not show the rooms having issues and the manager said it sent messages to clients but since we booked with Hotels.com we were not notified. There were more than 4 customers like us that our rooms were not in service. I demand a refund for the inconvenience

Booked this hotel online because it looked pretty decent. My fault for not looking at reviews prior to booking, but this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The area it's in is ugly, the room itself is damp and has burn marks all over the shower and counters, and the AC doesn't work. It was 110 degrees outside. I expected the basic "bad hotel" things like cigarette smoke, stains, and loud noises, but this exceeds my expectations and not in a good way.
