"Great experience."
My daughter was driving back to Newcastle from Qld and became unwell and I made a last minute booking for her there. The staff were extremely helpful and kind.

"Clean & tidy"
Clean & tidy with the shared amenities well maintained. We (2 adults) were after somewhere to sleep for the night after doing the tourist thing during the day, wasn't disappointed and it was good to have a quiet beer in the bar downstairs. Probably wouldn't suit a family though.

We stayed in a standard ensuite room, which was clean, bright and private. Small but perfect for our short stay.

Time to renovate! New curtains that actually block out the sun and fly screen door would have been great. A toaster in the room would have been good!

"Excellent Hostel for Stay"
I stayed at Gold Coast Backpackers for 3 nights for the marathon event and some traveling. I had no high expectation of it, but it turned out to have such a high cost performance. 1. Excellent location: 1) It's close to the Surfers' Paradise Station, only 3-minute walk from the tram station platform, which makes it easy to take the public transport to go to other scenic spots. 2) The SkyPoint Observation Deck (amazing view of the whole city!), a must-go in Gold Coast, is just in front of the hostel. 3) It's quite in the center of the city. There are many restaurants around and the two biggest local supermarkets Worlworth and Coles are both within walk distance (less than 15 minutes). With the complete sets of kitchenware for free use and foods bought from the supermarket, you could really make your daily meals cheap and rich. 4) The 3-minute walk to the beach can bring you either a breathtaking sunrise at sea or a relaxing sunset at sea enjoyment. 2. Hosts of the hostel are enthusiastic and happy to help. 3. The kitchen is kept clean and equipped with complete and sufficient kitchenware for free use. The refrigerators are large enough for you to store fresh foods such as milk, bread, fruits or vegetables. 4. The room is clean and comfortable. If you will spend most of the time outside traveling, you won't care about its limited size. Wifi is only available downstairs in the public area. If I go to Gold Coast again, I will book Gold Coast Backpackers again

Convenient location, easy to get to and fairly cheap, rooms and facilities (mostly bathrooms) could be a bit nicer, but there are decent shared areas. You can't bring alcohol on to the premises at all as they have their own bar. There is street parking but as its close to the action it's not really secure. Overall it's pretty much what you'd expect from a backpackers.

"Managers were a little off"
We arrived after office hours but the managers also live in the building, did not answer the call ball and told us our reservation wasnt paid (wich it was) eventually came down to let us in after half an hour and 2 phone calls directly to them explaining that we were supposed to be there. The facilitys were nice and nearby to woolworths and other conviniences for food or drinks.

"Great back packers, close to beach and night life"
Fantastic, new facilities, great privacy for dorms, personal power sockets at each bed, could charge phone without risk of it being robbed. Under refurbishment but that wasn't a problem. Cheap secure parking.

"Nice place to stay!"
Staff were great and rooms very clean. Be aware that it is an over 18's accommodation only. I booked thru Wotif stating I had a 12 year old with me and it still let me book.
