    Pocket Guide: Vancouver

In Vancouver, big city life gets a big dose of nature’s beauty. Sitting between the sea and the mountains, Vancouver has panoramic views of both as well as tidy, modern city streets lined with trees and parks. In winter, it’s close to awesome ski destinations like Whistler, which is renowned as one of North America’s best skiing spots. But all year, you can check out the vibrant underground arts scene, nine beautiful beaches, forest and mountain hiking tracks, and hip bars with cutting-edge craft beer. Book your Vancouver hotel with us for a real breath of fresh air... and that’s just the beginning.

    Things to do

If it’s winter, the snow’s the place to go! Grab your skis or snowboard and head to local mountains Grouse, Cypress and Seymour, just 30 minutes away from the city centre. The ski slopes on these mountains include fantastic views of the city and sea. Two hours away, you’ll find Whistler Blackcomb, a ski resort named after its two star mountains. If the weather is warm, these same mountains are perfect for hiking.

Stanley Park is a 1001-hectare park and one of Canada’s National Historic sites. It’s a place to explore 400 hectares of rainforest, wander colourful flower gardens, and see Brockton Point’s nine totem poles, carved by Canada’s First Nations people. Take a ride on the Stanley Park Miniature Train and a stroll around the Seawall, a 22km path that winds its way along Vancouver’s scenic waterfront.

Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver is another must-visit spot, where you can admire the Capilano River and rainforest from 230 feet in the air. There’s also a treetop adventure (a series of lower bridges) and a cliff walk.

In summer, hit Vancouver’s beaches for a surf or swim. Visit some of the city’s awesome museums, and enjoy the nightlife when the sun goes down.

    Shopping and dining

With plenty of different shopping regions, Vancouver has spots to suit all budgets: shopping malls, high-end boutiques and stylish clothing stores in old brick warehouses.

Get ready to eat hearty, because Vancouver has a world-class dining scene with heaps of amazing Asian restaurants. Seafood is popular as well, but there is a staggering amount of restaurants to choose from, whether you’re a fine diner or pizza worshipper. Then there’s the craft beer, which you’ll find flowing freely in the city’s eateries and bars.

    Getting here

If you’re ready to snap up some of our Vancouver accommodation, don’t forget we also have cheap flights to Vancouver, so booking your trip will be a breeze. Whether you’re a hipster, a skier, a beach bum or just looking for a good time, you’ll never grow bored with Vancouver’s endless activities or its impressive sights.
