My daughter and I went together and it was terrible. They put us in a room that smelled like B.O. They moved us to a different room and it smelled badly as well but we dealt with it. That night we asked for robes and a toothbrush set, after 30 minutes of waiting, we called downstairs and asked for an update when they would be there, they said about 5 more minutes. After another 20 minutes, we gave up and went to the pool without the robes. It was terrible service and we won't be back there.

Everything is great so far! We enjoyed the Fab Four at the river rock Theatre last night. It was the kids first concert. We are still here. I’m looking forward to a nice breakfast this morning. Last night we had dinner in the chairman’s lounge before the show and everything was amazing.

We live in Victoria and stay at River Rock from time to time when we need to go to Vancouver. The kids love the pool with the slide, which is honestly the only reason we keep coming back. Unfortunately, check-in is the worst we’ve experienced anywhere. Other hotels let you check in online and go straight to your room, but here you have to wait while staff spend forever typing info you already provided—I’d put everything in the booking, but the lady was typing away like she was writing a 1000 word essay. Meanwhile, my wife, who has health issues, had to stand the entire time since there’s nowhere to sit. The hotel requires a $500 deposit, and if you use a credit card for that and/or the room, there’s a 2% surcharge. We used debit just to avoid it; passing your merchant fee on to guests is outdated and unprofessional for a “resort-style” place. Checkout is just as frustrating. To get your $500 back, you have to line up again and wait for the room to be checked. When we asked if my wife could sit, they said there’s nowhere to sit in the lobby and suggested she go to Starbucks across the hall. Honestly, this is just an expensive hotel with a pool and slide. Our room was over $400/night, plus a $26 resort fee. What is that for? There are just basics like coffee, bottled water, and pool access—things most hotels include free. Parking is $33/night, and there’s a 2% surcharge if you pay by card. The total price adds up fast; the resort "fee" just isn’t justified for what you get.
