Went direct to the hotel from Thirsk, and arrived at 10.30 am. The receptionist was very polite and let us store our cases until we could check in at 3pm. Easy check-in, and had a river facing room on the third floor. Beautiful room, and great bathroom ( the shower was a drencher but there was a shower cap) and lovely view. Blackout curtains and spacious with enough coat hangers for our stay. This is the second time we have stopped and may be tempted to make it a regular yearly hotel as everywhere was exceptionally clean, with a nice smell. Central enough for walking from the train station and close to the town centre.

On business in Yorkshire

A hotel 5 stars in price, but 2 stars in service, if so! The hotel team has no commitment to their job. Not that they are unpolite, but simply they do not care on performing their job. Typical services like information at reception, room service or laundry you will need to ask several times, and even so they will not provide what is expected from a hotel supposed to be a 5 stars. Exception must be made to the personnel at breakfast, fully engaged, professional and friendly.

Fading bit by bit

Stayed here many times, it’s coveniently positioned and generally, the standard fits the price. Two issues though, render it second choice moving forward. Firstly, car parking cost £12 per night three years ago. Last year, it increased to £16 and now, it has increased again, to £20. Unacceptable. The other issue is one that i have previously reported and the hotel has done nothing about. Selection at the buffet breakfast is excellent but the ‘cooking’ method for sausages (in particular) and bacon is both awfully disappointing and perhaps even unsafe for consumption. Sausages are placed in a tray and simply obtain a think, cooked brown stripe where the meat touches the metal. The rest of each and every sausage is a disgustingly anaemic pale shade of pink. Bacon too, is simply thrown into a pan, often multiple slices stuck together. It really is a sad effort especially as the restaurant ‘manager’, refers to the cook who presents food in this manner as ‘the chef’. Hotel breakfast, is a deciding factor along with everything else in the offering and this has now placed Radisson outside the preferred choices in York

What you expect to get. Good location for york centre with some parking at £20 a night. Tv was convenient to stream your own media accounts. Little fridge in room was helpful. We had one bed side socket that was faulty but staff took note for maintenance team

Excellent location. Friendly staff. Our room was great for our 4 person family and the view or the river from our room was lovely. The only thing I would mention about our room, specifically number 336, was that there was a hole near one of the baseboards and it looked like it needed a bit of TLC.
